Got off the train, took one look at the place got on the next train out. I tried to approach Rotterdam with an open mind, but all I can say is it is the only place in Holland I have been that jakeys got on the train drinking out of cans.

Not pretty, it reminded me very much of the weedge.

Was in Rotterdam last summer as part of a stag do trip (was also in Antwerp)

I quite liked it to be honest - it is an 'ugly' place in that all the buildings look like they were build in the 60s/70s and there is not many buildings that look like they were build before the war.

But there is a cracking bar near the river called Beach or The Beach - its a man made beach and serves good beer and food. We also ended up at a cracking club which was under one of the bridges that cross the river.

Probably had one on the best nights of the stag in Rotterdam.

That's because most of the city was flattened by bombing raids during WWII.

A few years back, I spent quite a bit of time working in Rotterdam and I'd agree with the posts above that say there isn't much to see or do there.

Saying that, there's a pub called the Ski Hut that is delightfully mental and well worth a visit.

Went to see Depeche Mode there a couple of years ago but was only there for one night. Seemed a bit drab to be honest but I only really saw the area between the train station, the concert arena and a few boozers. Only an hour or so on the train from the Dam.

its about an hour or so. Iv been to amsterdam many a time, not really a fan tbh, think it sold its soul for tourism.

thoughts on rotterdam - have to be honest i really like it(minus the fact the stad de kuip was shut cos theres a concert 2moro:grr:) Plenty of good arcitechture and the city really seemed like it was evolving. Went to the ski hut as well, it was good didnt eat though
