Just wondering if anyone knows if its true tht a new tesco express is getting built up at hermiston gait cause i am thinking of getting myself a part time job there if there is. Cheers:thumbsup:

Yeh there is. Not sure when it will be opened but there are Tesco boards around where homebase used to be.

I went up with Ross who had the same idea as you :greengrin

Aye, it going to be where Homebase used to be. It's quite a big unit though so unless they're only using part of it, I'd imagine it would just be a normal store and not and Express.

I'm looking for a job there too, tried phoning the number given but think the centre was closed at weekends. Phoning up tommorow though and if that fails then I'm going down to the centre at edinburgh park to see if it exists/if I can get a job :greengrin

It's boarded along the full length from JJB to where Homebase was so I reckon you're right.

Just found this out last week- great news as I work in the area and it's brutal as it stands.

3 hamburger vans and an underused railway platform with no bogs.

personally i wouldnt buy food from that place, i know what used to go on in their, especially in the warehouse.

i hope they dont find the unofficial wall of fame:cool2:

Nope, nobody seems to know it. Best bet is to go down to the recruitment centre in person and register interest.

Might be best waiting for the new massive tesco to be built slap bang in the middle of gorgie road. Demolishon work due to start in may 2009.

There are three new stores opening in the next few months:

Asda - at Newhaven (next to Chancelot Mill)
Morrisons - at Granton (next to Telford College)
Tesco - Hermiston Gait, as previously mentioned.

Applications for all these stores are at The Academy in St James Centre, where you can also get full information about vacancies, opening dates etc.
Their number is 0131 556 9026 or pop in the next time you're in St James - just along from the new Subway shop :greengrin
