Never been a lover of French cars. The new clio is ok but nothing of a stand out. Should have waited a few months until the new Fiesta comes out or even opted for the Mazda 2 which probably would have been cheaper and more fun IMO

Mrs Mibbes used to have a Clio 1.5 DCi, or something similar. It was a good car to drive, very nippy but with decent fuel consumption. She bought it partly because of the safety features (new-born baby at that time) which were ahead of its competitors.

Downsides with her one as I recall were the brakes (needed attention and very expensive because it had to be Renault parts) and the electrics (not hugely serious but things like warning lights coming on that didn't need to - from what I gather, problems with these aren't uncommon with Renaults).

Overall though the positives far outweighed the negatives.

A bit off topic, but did you know that something like 14,000 new cars are built every day in France. :dizzy:

Unimaginable in so many ways.

I had one of those, an X reg. It was absolutely fine, never gave me a bit of bother. The only thing that annoyed me about it was its lack of power on the motorways, but you can't expect too much from a 1.15l engine

Good reliable wee car though.
