Trying to organise a trip to London in August, no sign of the legendary cheap fares when I use "Raileasy". Is this just a P*sspoor portal and I'd be better going to the station for advice?

Train tickets changed recently so I'm not sure if this still stands, but the really really cheap London tickets only used to come out 2 months before your date of travel (even though you can book tickets 3 months in advance - I never worked that one out).

May well have changed as they were GNER tickets and GNER no longer run the London service IIRC.

I used this:
http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/jp earlier on this month to book return train from Aberdeen to London for £36 - bargain I thought as it gets you right into the centre of London which flying certainly doesn't.

Try going direct with nationalexpresseastcoast (http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com/) you’ll get a better price than going with some of these 3rd party outlets. Dates are only available up to the 22nd August at the moment. Seats are only released 3 months in advance.
I’m off to London the last couple of days in August, first couple in September; I’ll have to wait till next week.
