The problem is that musicians are boring as **** these days and everyone complains about keane and coldplay but as soon as someone's ****ging a supermodel and taking drugs they should be burnt at the stake. I started playing guitar about 2 years ago Gramo because I wanted to be able to learn **** Forever. I'm now (in my opinion:greengrin) a pretty competent guitar player and can play the said song without any fuss. Being able to play the guitar is now a part of me and a talent that I now have and it's mainly down to the influence of Pete Doherty.


On the other hand I have never touched any illegal substances in my life (and you can ask Danny for my thoughts on that if you wish).

You claim that Pete is the dregs of society yet he's already lead a much more successful life than you ever will and has affeted more people in a positive way than Steven Fletcher or Amadou Konte could ever wish to. When the time comes that Pete does inevitabley die, I would bet my last penny that there will be more people that will look back and appreciate him, his achievements and the impact that he's had on society than thos that will think 'at least Gramo is still here, he pays his bills an does an honest days work'

Well...I salute you for learning the guitar to play one of his tunes....I'm getting to the point up until his recent jail sentence (29 days ain't a sentence mind you)....he's been untouchable because he's a celeb....

I'm not really too fussed if PD has more people saluting him when he dies than me....it's expected (altho I would hope the legions of Gramo fans will line Leith Walk and sing Sunshine On Leith....

I want to see like for like punishments.....

If I battered a bloke (chance would be a fine thing :greengrin) and I got jailed for 6 months....I'd expect to see PD done for the same....it wouldn't happen because he'd flash his trilby and be out of court with a slapped wrist....the fact that he's gotten away with so much drug abuse is shocking and it must make some of his fans (not including yourself in that) think the "Drugs is a cool thing, it'll make me the coolist dude at school)"...

I normally stay out of your Pete Docherty arguments because we have totally different points and I know none of us will ever change our opinions but I agree with everything you say, and the way it is put :agree:

My opinion, shame his music career comes down to taking drugs.
Most of the muisc is good and I can see how it affected a generation. not my thing but dont hate it.
However he should be given a harsher jail sentence as he gets away with it time and time again!

I dont think the problem lies with Pete Doherty. The problem lies at the door of the justice system. If PD got the same punishment as everyone else would get, not only would most people who dislike him not bother with him anymore, but also PD himself would probably make a much more substantial effort to get off drugs for good. In doing so he would probably become more successful as those people who cant see past the drugs would be open to his music and he would be less of a taboo.

The society we live in where those who have money and/or power are able to get away with criminal offenses is damaging everyone, including those who think they are getting away with it.

That old chestnut that buying illegal drugs only affects one person and that sthe person taking them. There is a chain reaction when you buy any illegal goods.

I think its a shame hes so hooked on drugs, i dont like his music and i dont really like him but he does have some talent, or he must since so many people enjoy his music.
