don't know if i'm missing something here, but why is it necessary to spend £190m on upgrading a train station when theres a bloody massive one already about a mile away?

also why do they keep raving about this new building having a glass roof? why dont they just not put a glass roof on it and save the taxpayer a few million that could be better spent elsewhere :confused:

Is it not the case that Waverley has reached capacity so if we (or whoever) wants more trains we've got to have more capacity at the station - there's no room for Waverley to expand any further :confused:

thats what I don't understand. if they're hoping to treble passenger numbers won't they need some new platforms? the new building looks nice but how is the extra space in the upstairs bit going to make a difference to how many passengers it can handle?

Disability access laws play some part in the adaptation/renovation of the station- all buildings/public premises have all to be adapted by a certain time or result in closure. Haymarket is pretty handy for some people to get to rather than having to go away into town to the waverley :agree:

Nonsense chaps. Trams a great idea and long overdue. The ones in Dublin are fantastic. Also, lets have a congestion charge. It works a treat in London where you can actually breathe air instead of choking when you step outside.
