View Full Version : Its for Charidee
Some of you will be aware that my son recently lost his phone and, very kindly, Hibs.net Mr C provided him with a replacement. Thanks again Mr C, Mikey is delighted with it, although he prefers Monopoly!
There was another thread here recently where someone was looking for a phone to replace a lost one to avoid extra charges in getting a new one from their phone provider.
Had me thinking that maybe we, as a forum, could have a ‘Charity Thread’.
My original thought was for phones, but it could be anything. Basically you have something lying around which may be of use to someone but has little or no monetary value to you.
Take an old phone [and charger].
It gets posted up on the Charidee messageboard, say a minimum of £10 better phones cost more.
The original owner gets it out the way, no money but a personal glow from giving to charity.
The new owner gets a new phone and a personal glow from giving to charity.
Both are happy.
The £10 goes to Hibs.net to put towards the usual things that Hibs.net give money to; the Dnipro Appeal, Hibernian FC Youth Development etc.
A private transaction between the two folk with the hib.net appeals the beneficiary.
Just a thought.

If anybody has old phone lying about my sons football team are collecting them - they get kit for them. They can be in any condition.

Jill I have a sidekick - the speaker is blown on it so it is useless
And everyone thinks it is a games console
But your son can have that if he likes. I am only holding onto it for sentimental reasons but know when I come to pack and move to Ireland, it will get chucked out
see what I mean: http://estrip.org/elmwood/users/paul/images/0607/Sidekick10613.jpg
OOh and back to the original post, think think would be a great idea.
I'm really thankful to bigstu and bernz for the trouble they are going to for me

Fiona I'll take as many as you can get. I can pick them up any weekend. You are (yet again) a star!

I am not in my office tomorrow have to go up to Dundee (I get to go to all the good places) but will dig out what I have on Thursday and send them to you.
Some of them are those rather fetching blue and orange ones Nokia brought out a while back. They went down a real treat with half of our Glasgow office :tee hee:
I was speaking to Scotts coach tonight after his game and he was saying we need 30 more phones to get a full set of training strips. Fiona your contribution will make a HUGE difference. Also thanks to Julz for arranging to meet me after the Rangers game to give me her old phone.

That would be great. I am meeting Julz outside the club shop on sunday after the game so if anyone wants to meet me thats where I'll be. I'm wee and podgy and will have at least one blonde son with me - probably with glasses on (me too):greengrin
Anyone who is not going to the game can post them to me - PM for address and I will refund postage.

This is already under way.
I asked on a thread over two weeks ago if anyone had a PS1 kicking about as mine was capute. Derek kindly offered his one without charge and I said I would give a donation to the Dnipro Appeal. He duly posted it to me two weeks past tomorrow and it still has not arrived. The Royal Mail says that the item has to be "lost" for 15 days before an enquiry is instigated.
I will still make a donation to the Dnipro Appeal to honour my side of the bargain. Its not Dereks fault that the Royal Mail do not deliver.
I have Bobby Johnstone's book which I won on a raffle on the Bounce. I cannot get past the 1st chapter and would be willing to send it to anyone as long as they donate to one of the Hibs charities. Seemingly its a great read but not for me.:greengrin
