When they are doing a lot of excavation work and moving a crap load of earth, when they take it away where do they put it????

Not really thought about this but sure its a very obvious answer :hnet:

They put it in bags in their trousers and by pulling a wee bit of string can spread it about as they walk around. Three guys in the pub told me this, I think their names were Tom, Dick and Harry!

Thats the logical but surely they must remove loads more dirt than they require to refill :dunno:

The brother in law drives a tipper and all day every day he collects from sites and it all goes to a landfill site.

Depends on what they remove really. It costs to remove materials from sites, so the plan would be to reuse as much of it on the site as possible, eg any concrete excavated would be crushed and used as fill materials, same goes for tarmac.

Topsoil (the good stuff!) will be reused for grass/planting areas.

If its contaminated material that comes out thats another story of course and needs to be dealt with properly :agree:
