View Full Version : Social Clubs - Bribes from Developers

I have been invited to be a member of a social club - which has its own premises. Being in an area ripe for development, I am tempted to join. I reckon the club rooms are on a piece of prime real estate, and a bribe may be forthcoming from property speculators.

Anybody else been in a similar position? I'm not interested in moral dilemmas, rather how much can I expect to recieve in return for the humiliation of grovelling to the committee of this club to be allowed to join.

(I'd like to stress that this club has nothing to do with Hibernian Football Club, or the Leith area. They do have bingo on a Sunday though, and I believe a rather fetching "official" blazer to show that you are an "official" member.)

I would give you some advice, FR, but it'll cost you. Used oncers, brown envelope, Victoria Station.... you know the drill by now.

Jeezo, how many other councillors are on this board?

If your club blazer is maroon, I daresay you will be initiated rather swiftly into the murky world of bribery and other sundry dodgy dealings!
