Me and the missus have booked our holiday to Croatia this year.

We're going to be in Istria in the first week and Dubrovnik in the second.

Has anyone been there? Any suggestions?

In particular, has anyone hired a car there before? What are they like about taking it over the border to Bosnia, Medjugorje and MOstar?

Stayed in Pula on the coast and had a couple of days in Zagreb but that was away back in 1990 about 18 months before the troubles started, had a great time and the people were great.
I fancy Dubrovnik so would be interested on how you get on.

I went to a place called Porec, which I believe is now in Croatia, though when I visited there in 1987 it was still in Yugoslavia.

Good weather and very cheap from memory.

My only other memory of the holiday was some guy in the hotel recognising my Hibs top and telling me how he remembered when we played his team, Hadjuk Split. :greengrin

Stayed in Pula 2years ago, we drove down from Prague and to be honest would not go back to Pula, it is a great we place but more for a city break than a holiday resort, better off heading either side of Pula to the fishing villages for more holiday atmosphere.

On the plus side, there are some great day trips in and around Pula.

Enjoy.

Stayed in Novigrad last year for two weeks. Small fishing village, not a lot to do but very relaxing. Enough pubs and restaurants for variety and usually some sort of entertainment on in the main square each night. Benidorm it ain't. if you want a very relaxing, couple orientated holiday this is the palce for you.

Went to Croatia around 2 years ago. Stayed in Mlini, which was around 10 mins away by boat taxi, or 30 mins by bus. Wasn't really my place as was with just my Mum and Dad, but it was a nice place, very warm. Was there during the Croatian Festival which was a brilliant night. Good night life in Dubrovnik also.
