Hi, Folks.

Some of you may recall that last year I took part in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Boston. Essentially it's a 60 mile walk that takes place over 3 days. All proceeds raised go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This year's event takes place in the middle of August which sounds like a long time away but it's not when you consider the difficulties involved with trying to raise the minimum which is $2,200. Last year, with the help of friends, family, work colleagues and strangers I was able to raise approximately $5,000. Of course I would love to beat that this year but my primary goal is just to make the minimum so that I am allowed to participate in the walk.

Here is the link to my donation page -- http://08.the3day.org/goto/HibsMax. Please consider donating whatever you can. Every little helps and this is a very worthy cause. You can visit http://www.the3day.org for the official front page.

Last year I walked in memory of a friend's mother who died of bone cancer but she was a long-time breast cancer survivor before that. This year I will be walking in honour of an ex-work colleague who was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. She is just starting her treatment now and it's my sincere hope that she beats it like so many other people have in the past. Events like this can only help. I know it sounds cliched but let's do what we can to make Breast Cancer history.

Thank You, Max

PS - I know that this thread cannot be stickied so please keep replying to it to keep it on the front page. If we can keep posts about songs, etc. alive for extended periods of time, perhaps we can do the same for a truly worthy cause? Thanks.

I'm making good progress now, over half way to the minimum and just over 25% of the way to my goal. Every little makes a difference. I'm going out for a 10 mile walk now. Feel free to stop by my site while I'm out. :)

Hi, Folks.

First I want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far. Your support is very much appreciated.

Now for the bad news. Last Thursday I went to the Lahey Clinic for an MRI on my right knee since it has been giving me some issues on and off since last August. I just got the results back and I have been told that I have "patellofemoral stress" aka Runner's Knee (I'll leave the googling to you). The upshot of this is I need to start physiotherapy and I have been told not to participate in the walk lest I do myself more damage. As you might imagine this is very upsetting news as it's for a great cause and I had a lot of great experiences last year. I feel bad for those of you who donated as well because I feel as though you have been slightly cheated (the donations are not refundable). However, in an effort to make it up to you I plan on matching your donations with one of my own. As redundant as this may now seem, you can still donate. It's not actually redundant at all when you consider we're raising funds for Breast Cancer awareness, not for me to suffer through 60 miles. ;)

Please accept my apologies and know that I will do whatever I can to be ready for next year's event.

Thanks, Max
