Now before anyone calls the 'fuzz' this is a discussion myself and my wife were having last night (it was our anniversary an all that :greengrin)

If someone close to you say a family member or friend murdered someone would you cover for them if it was say self defence or an accident?

My wife says she wouldn't but personally if I knew my best mate had killed someone in self defence I would cover for them the best that I could....maybe the person deserved it (whole different argument that one).

Feel free to call me what you want :agree:

If it was self defence or an accident then I would definately cover up

Anything else and they deserve what they get

I could only answer your question if the situation arose I think.

I'm interested in your choice of anniversary conversations though '67!

Did you get round to hanging, genocide and the possible outbreak of nuclear war or are you saving them for Christmas?

My heart says no, if it was truly an accident or self-defence then the person should admit to it and trust in the fact they had no other choice. The truth will eventually come out and adding a couple of counts of 'perverting the course of justice' by lying wont help thier case.

However!

My head says yes because i dont trust the british justice system. Real criminals get cushy prison sentences in open prisons and a slap on the wrist and 200 lines when they escape and rape someone....thats if they actually go to prison rather than just getting a £300 fine and a suspended sentence for ruining someones life while someone who defends themselves gets a prison sentence and forced to pay compensation to the bawbag who was attacking/robbing them in the first place.

Honesty is always the best policy.

However we live in a f***** up country where there is little justice so i have nothing against lieing for the right reasons.

If it's self-defence or an accident, it's homicide, but it isn't murder. (Pedant alert!)

No, I wouldn't. Self-preservation, as much as any other reason. I really don't want to go through life knowing that there's a bloke in the world who's already killed once, and I'm the guy who could send him to jail. He might just decide to top me as insurance....

It reminds me too much of one of those old black-and-white Hitchcock films, and I could just see myself as the guy who gets erased in the last reel.

Is covering up a murder not perverting the course of justice? All the perverts or should that be perverters will be clogging up the prisons.
