I stupidly forgot to transfer money from my savings account to my current account this month & have just found out that the bank are going to be charging me a load of different charges for being overdrawn & using my visa card while being overdrawn. I've been with the bank for years & have never caused them any problems up to now so i'm a bit pi$$ed off!
Has anyone tried to get bank charges cancelled and if so did you succeed? How easy is it?
Cheers

From someone who works in a bank....
If you've never (quite literally) had charges or not had them in a VERY long time, phone them and explain what happened - they should offer you a reversal as a goodwill gesture, assuming your relationship with them is as good as you paint.
From a customer who has had the same thing I can agree with Scott. :agree:

Just nip into your bank n speak to the manager n they should stop the charge, as a mark of good will i think i got told when i went in to see the manager about the same thing.
They also said that it is computer generated that a letter is sent out as soon as someone becomes overdrawn.
If the 1st time it happened they will probably let u off wi it,don't hold me 2 that tho :greengrin
Something similar with me, a quick chat at the bank sorted my mistake out , then all monies returned no problem .
Not quite the same sitation, but the bank messed up once, and it resulted in me getting charges but because I never tried to claim all my charges back they said they could reverse it quite easily.
So a clean record can help

I have never had charges before & have never had any problems at all.
Just phoned them & the women said I have 5 charges pending. 1 for being overdrawn & 4 for using my Visa debit card. She said she could cancel off 2 of them as a gesture of goodwill. Think i'll go to the bank on Monday (if it is open) & speak to the manager & try & get the rest cancelled off, I admit I made a mistake but they have made mistakes before & I haven't sued them!

Couple of years ago the bank just couldn't get my account right. The manager took me out for lunch, despite being a yam we had quite a good chat about football!

Its a bit tight you got charged every time you used your card. I went over my limit 2 times this month by accident, and I only got charged the once

you must be loaded and have some amount of cash going thru his bank for this kind of treatment!

Warch out next month tho, as you were in the red this month, the bank can charge you next month depending when the charges were reimbursed.
ie bank charges applied 26th of the month
reimbursed say 2nd of next month
at the next month, your account shows that you were overdrawn at the 1st of the month and so another charge set against your account.
Keep a close eye on the charges . it took me 4 months to have all charges deducted from my account after going £4.25 overdrawn on the 1st month(1st time ever)
