How do you know they are off duty, the wearing of uniform in public is no longer discouraged and a serviceman/woman is allowed to wear it when transiting between their home station - domicile. If Pte Snooks needs to nip into Tesco for something on his way home from work he is allowed to, he is not however allowed to go out on the ran dan till 3 in the morning with it on:wink:

The way the radio station (canny mind which one) were reporting it was as if the servicemen were just spending all their off duty lives wandering around the town in uniform which I just didn't understand.

The idea of democratising countries in the middle east and central asia, doesn't sound very democratic to me.

Why should be force democracies on these countries, just so we can install a puppet regime we western powers can manipulate I think.

Just becasue democracy has worked for western judeo-christian societies doesn't mean it works for everyone.

Iraq has never been democratic, it's a tribal society that has been in place through centuries of Ottaman empire, British control, puppet royal regimes and and Ba'athist dictatorships.

Don't see why we think flying there, bombing the **** out of the place, and going 'right - you're going to be democratic now' would work in the space of a couple of years.

And second, do you think it's only immigrants that have these demands? I'm a native to Scotland, and i think demands of having a job, education etc are all pretty reasonable...
