Did anyone on this thread read a single review for Juno before actually going to see it?
If you went in expecting Superbad 2 (why?? because one actor was in both??) it's no wonder you were "let down". The fact that it was nominated for, and won 1 Oscar should have indicated it was NOT Superbad! Superbad is hilarious, but it's not oscar-winning material is it???
Thought it was really quite good to be honest, fairly original stuff.

I agree, no idea why someone would ever try compare this to superbad. Perhaps because it had two of the main actors from arrested development people were expecting something that was a more obvious comedy but I found it a really enjoyable film and haven't spoken to anyone who has not enjoyed it. Then again nobody I spoke to was expecting superbad 2.

I really enjoyed it. Michael Cera is fantastic, unsuprisingly, and the girl bacame quite likeable after grating alot for the first half hour. Cracking soundtrack as well.

Opinions eh!? I thought the soundtrack was awful and completely inkeeping with an awful movie

Belle and Sebastian, The Kinks, Moldy Peaches (and Kinya Dawson solo), Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Cat Power. Awful?! You need your ears checked, pal. :greengrin

The type of horrendous and offensive nonsense that passes of as entertainment nowadays. The message was totally reactionary in this bland and purile film. Teenage pregnancy is a terrible thing, it invariably wrecks a young girl's life and curtails any opportunities (social, education, employment) she has, particularly if she comes from a non-wealthy background.
To dress this up as a rom-com was nasty and trite. I wanted to walk out but the wife was loving it.

It seems to me that just because it wasn't a tits 'n' erse comedy for the boys, that made it Rafael?
I really enjoyed it when I watched it. I didn't pay either, but I still enjoyed watching it. It's nice to see a film which ISN'T a remake of a mediocre film from the past, or one based on a cartoon/comic, or yet another movie with Will Ferrell in it.
but you're right, differing opinions.
I recommend August Rush by the way.
It's got Robin Williams in it, but funnily enough it's not a carbon copy of Mrs Doubtfire...kinda like Juno wasn't a replica of Superbad...

Never seen superbad BUT i have seen Juno, and for the life of me i cant understand all the hype surrounding it. Of course its just my opinion and in my opinion its pants. Edith Bowmen rants on about it all the time, so i watched it because of her and was let down big time.

To be fair, you shouldn't listen to much that Edith Bowman says, even if she was right on this occasion.
