Can anyone answer this poser: what was the biggest ever away support to watch a football match in Edinburgh?
No prizes, just for fum. My supposedly football mad friends could not answer it.

Is it the Hibs support at the Murrayfield game vs Barcelona?
We were technically the away team, and if all of the non-Barcelona fans were counted as Hibs fans?

Were we the away team v Barca?
I'd have guessed rangers when they played hearts at Murrayfield.Mon the Hibs.

Was it one of the Scotland games at Tynie during the 1989 U-16 World Cup?

Rangers and Celtc used to bring tens of thousands of fans in the 60s and 70s.
Hibs took a lot to the PBS but I can't imagine it was more than they used to bring.
Hearts fans at ER in the 60k record game?

I struggled to find any Hibbies in the East Terracing in the 1974 game when Celtc won 4-2. Huge crowd (48,500 I think) and biggest away support I've seen at ER.

I was late and couldn't find my mates! It was horrible, a sea of smelly drunken celtc fans, plenty tooled up as well.

Come on fellow Hibees. Think out of the box a bit.
The match was only a few years ago but passed virtually unnoticed in the Edinburgh press.

In the 70s the whole terrace would be virtually old firm especially if they needed to clinch the title.

No.
re the 70's crowds: Hibs fans would rarely be outnumbered, except fof the 1974/5 Rangers one all clincher where there was a 39000 crowd.
Perhaps 20,000 Rangers fans.
The match I am talking about had an official attendance.

The exact figure would give it away so let's say 25000 plus.

I've got it
Edit: If it's the game I'm thinking about, it was their home game, not away.
