Got to admit I love Jack Whitehall. A League Of Their Own is one of my favourite things on tele.
That is probably the difference. I hate the show and everyone in it :)

Sarah Millican is worse in my book though as she is not only ***** at her job but also very very annoying!
Did you know she likes chocolate? Its not as if she mentions it very often! :-)

Most female comedians (sorry, but it's true)

Almost anyone on Mock the Week these days, certainly the regulars.
1st point I agree with 100% don't think I've ever seen or heard a funny woman stand up.

I said this earlier in the thread, but Ellie Taylor was brilliant at the festival this year, best show I saw.

Dunno if Sharon Horgan does stand up, but she's always struck me as a funny woman.

Amy Schumer is not funny on her TV show IMO. She has a very potty mouth on her.

Jim Carey is the first man I will put up against the wall to be shot when I'm put in charge of the world.

Juvenile face pulling is not comedy in anyone's book.

    Julian Clary.

He's gay you know. Which, in his eyes at least, is the funniest thing in the world.

Jo Brand can be very funny with her dry droll sense of humour.

Not sure about her stand up as I haven't seen a lot of it but she's always really good when she's on panel shows, QI in particular.

I think Katherine Ryan is a hoot - especially her Beyonce skit.

    Katherine Ryan is hilarious.

Its peculiar that certain men cant find any women standup comedians funny. I mean, how is that possible? theres hundreds of them out there. Unless you dont find women funny in ordinary life either?

The only 3 comedians that have ever made me laugh are Billy Connolly, Chubby Brown and Frankie Boyle.

We're in danger of turning this thread on its head but I'd recommend you watch a Richard Pryor stand up set, anyone that doesn't laugh at that is dead inside.

Back to the original point of this thread I'd agree with the Lenny Henry shout but the worst in my book are that pair on the tele Mel and Sue, how anyone can find them funny is beyond me.

Just to clarify there are indeed some very funny women comedians especially over in America. In the context of a sketch show or panel show, they can be just as funny as their male counterparts.

Specifically in the stand-up setting of "1 person, a stage and a microphone" I must admit I've never seen one that's made be belly laugh like the top male comedians can. But that obviously doesn't mean they aren't out there.

I'd disagree, I think his material has aged quite badly. Much prefer George Carlin.

    For me the worst are:
    Kevin bridges
    John bishop
    Michael McIntyre
    Rob brydon
    Sarah millican.

Make a joke, repeat it louder in their accent (weegie, Scouse, posh, Welsh, geordie) and hope for the best.

I saw her gig in Glasgow a few years ago. She was a hoot.

Somebody mentioned Joan Rivers. If you can get beyond the annoying American female drawl, I think she could be quite shocking and equally funny.

Kevin Bridges and Rob Brydon are both witty and have a lot more to them than repeating jokes in their accents IMO.

I'm dead inside then whatever that means

I've only ever really liked Billy Connolly, Les Dawson and Tommy Cooper.

I saw Steven K Amos once and it was tragically unfunny. Nice guy though...

Frankie Boyle live: was good on Mock the Week but his live stuff didn't work so well. Was making jokes about Madeline McCann, cancer victims and Jordan's kid. No one was really laughing and thought it was a bit too much. I get that being offensive is his thing but...

Michael McIntyre: saw him a few years ago at the festival. Best stuff was improvised, just didn't do it for me.
