Murray wasn't at the races. He looked physically but more so, mentally knackered.

Best thing he can do is have a good rest for the next two weeks and get his mind right for the US open

I'm amazed he got as far as he did. Winning Wimbledon and more so the Olympic gold must have drained him. I wonder if he ever thought of giving the tournament a miss. It has been a fabulous year but winning the us open will be tough even though he will be favourite with Novak out of sorts at the moment.

Did id he lose in straight sets? Yes. He got pumped. Not slagging him off. He lost, big deal. This is a football forum anyway, this thread should be in other sports.

Andy's moving nicely through the gears at the US Open. Through to the third round without dropping a set. 24 wins in his last 25 matches including Queen's, Wimbledon and Olympic titles. Must be the best spell of his career.

It would be a great achievement if/when it happens.

However the tennis rankings are worked out so that you are always compared with your performance from exactly 12 months ago.
For the Paris Masters, Djokovic won the tournament last year so he has 1000 points to defend there. If he goes out at the semi final stage, he'll lose 640 points and if Murray wins the tournament he'll gain 400 points (he lost in the final last year).
That would put Djokovic on 12260 points and Murray on 11385 points going into the World Tour Finals in London.
When the points for last year's Finals event get deducted before this year's event, Murray would then be on 11185 and Djokovic would be on 10960.

Hope he does it in style and wins the next 2. If he does he'll have a great chance to stay there for a while because Djokovic had a very good start to the year.

Hard fought victory for Murray tonight against Fernando Verdasco, into the third round of the Paris Masters.
Murray wins 6-3 6-7 7-5.
Verdasco had two breaks points at 5-5 in the final set and would have been serving for the match.
The world number one dream lives on.
