Anyone got any favorite soundtracks or bands that you've discovered on the back of watching something?
Trainspotting has a great soundtrack, especially for those of us who were in our late teens at the time.
Twin Peaks new season has had some good tunes on it, got me listening to the Chromatics, who are quite similar to College (featured on the Drive soundtrack, which is also excellent).
The Leftovers soundtrack was excellent fit the series, not sure how it would go on the drive to work though.
Any others worth looking out for?

On TV - Girls and Master of None have a lot of good stuff. Also quite liked the Mogwai soundtrack on The Returned.

Trainspotting one is class. All of the 'This is England' series and film too for me.
Not what you mean but talking of soundtracks - I can't concentrate when I am writing a report and have proper music on. So I tend to just sit listening to soundtracks with no words. Anything from John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Helps me focus.

Guardian's of the Galaxy has a great soundtrack. Second one is t bad either!
You found your God in a paper back, you get your history from the Union Jack, and all your brothers and sisters have gone and they won't come back.

Mamma Mia?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Still like Hipsway, apparently going on tour again. First heard of them on the McEwans lager ad.

Really love the Donnie Darko soundtrack. Some excellent songs on there.
Also a second shout for The Social Network soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Growing up, the American Pie 2 soundtrack was a staple of my pop-punk youth.Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Some great shouts here already. Really agree with
Baby Driver
Master of None
Donnie Darko
Jackie Brown (virtually all Tarantino to be fair)
Also keen recently on Searching for Sugar man.
Big fan of The Virgin Suicides and a few other Sofia Coppola films. Dazed and Confused, Goodfellas, Vanilla Sky, Almost Famous.
Can't beat a bit of Isaac Hayes too

Donnie Darko was excellent
Bit of an old one, Teachers (which is on demand on channel 4) had any amazing soundtrack, as did Trigger Happy TV.

Mary Poppins. Classic.
Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.
