Im sure we will all be wondering what sort of players he will look to recruit to the club and how we will set up/play.
Going by his history it’s seems to be a running theme of young players excelling at lower levels and ready for the step up, a lot of whom made the step up with ease and were a success or gained another move off the back of it.
An article here about his signings https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.l...m-14597357.amp
Looking forward to see who he brings in as it is those type of players that I always find so we’ll at hibs and something we have moved away from in the past year or so with recruiting older players or squad fillers.

I wonder if he'll address the fact that we only have three senior strikers before the end of this season.

But by the end of March he will be cooking up plans for the summer.

He has the right idea and type of player that he wants, I think he will be able to attract good young players here.

In an interview I’m sure he mentioned he doesn’t like to sign loan players who have never been out on loan before

Still a back question mark over who the signings at Easter Road. Will he have a free hand?

Hibs suffered from this for years in the post Mowbray era
Not all the players we signed in that time were bad, but with a change of manager often comes a clearing of the decks
There is little value achieved in a fire sale necessary for you to raise some cash to bring in "your" players

How many did a good job for the club and then just moved on when their contracts ended?

Dylan McGeouch
Conrad Logan
Fraser Fyvie
Malonga
None of them were sold at a profit, none are still here.

Heckingbottom does not know most of our players.
He will look at them all with fresh eyes and without sentiment.
In the summer he will want his own players and to do that he will have to get players out.
I suspect all the players whose contracts are up in the summer will be moved on and the 6 loans will also leave.
That means fans favourites Gray, McGregor, Bartley as well as Nelom probably go because it is easy not to renew contract than move contracted players on.
That will leave us with 16 players this summer if contracted players can't be moved on.
2 Goalkeepers - Marciano, Dubrowski
5 Defenders - Whittaker, Stevenson, Mackie, Porteous, Hanlon
7 Midfielders - Milligan, Allan, Slivka, Mallan, Horgan, F. Murray, Boyle
2 Strikers - Kamberi, Shaw
The new manager will then have spaces and wages to bring in 6-8 first team players of his choice in the summer.
What do you reckon?Last edited by CMurdoch; 14-02-2019 at 01:45 PM.

How long will it take for the first "underwhelmed" comment when he signs somebody?
Maybe we should place bets on it

They’ll be on reasonable wages and I don’t think Heckingbottom will want to carry players that are going to miss more than they play.
I know what Dempster said about the likes of them never leaving the club, but particularly in Gray’s case, he’s still a good few years away from retirement and we need a captain capable of being on the pitch week in, week out.
