Certainly looked a player and did a job for us. I have to admit I was surprised when he went home, I would have thought Hibs were a better bet for advancing his career than his parent club.

He will always be a cup winning hero though so its nice to see him doing well, but I cant help thinking in the years to come when folk are asked to name the 2016 cup winning team he will be the one they stumble on ...... 'damn, what the hell was the guys name again? ... I can see him now, tall guy came from ... Sweden I think it was'

Djurgarden into Swedish Cup final thanks to a 2-0 win today.

Niklas didn't start but came on during the first half. They play Malmo in the final so will be a tough game.

Chris Dagnall will forever be a pub quiz conundrum too. Although, he was an unused sub.

Congratulations to Scottish Cup winning legend Niklas Gunnarsson, whose Djurgardens side qualified for European football next season yesterday - the last day of the Swedish league season.

Well done and good luck to him

And it initially looked like he was coming on to replace the man now known as Sir David Gray!
Imagine how different things could have unfolded....

Wish nothing but the best to the big guy. In the same vein as most over the last 3/4 years that really "got" Hibs

"What a moment this is, It's Liam Henderson to deliver.....

Niklas Gunnarsson has scored, the big Norwegian, Hibs are standing on the brink of history, after 114 years they've almost done it, they've almost won the Scottish Cup"

    Or something like that

Another Hibs connection. His club Djurgardens were our second round opponents during our glorious European Cup run in season 1955-56 and yes we beat them, albeit that their home leg was played at Partick Thistle's ground due to the vagaries of the Swedish weather.

Made a crucial sliding tackle towards the end that had my arsecheeks twitching like a mole's nose.

Another vital player on that day of days.

He couldn't be guaranteed first team football so he didn't want to stay for that reason I think

Did he not header one off of the line in the dying minutes of the 2-2 game against Hearts? Can't remember what game it was.

He put one on to the bar when trying to tackle. The resulting corner lead to kt clearing it off the line.

Always a good pub quiz question-the first Glasgow ground to host a European Cup match.

Fantastic result for Djurgarden tonight - a 3-0 win v Malmo.

Niklas didn't start but came on at HT with the score 0-0. Djurgarden opened the scoring less than a minute into the second half so I think he changed the game! :-)

It's a psychological boost ahead of playing Malmo in the cup final next month, although they are actually due to play each other again before that.

Thats a very impressive result, Malmo are current Allsvenskan champions are they not? Djurgarden might fancy a shot at the title this year, certainly a sound start to their campaign.

Congratulations to Niklas, whose Djurgarden side just won the Swedish Cup by beating Malmo (3-0 again).

Niklas was a 82nd minute sub, which is around the time he likes to appear in cup wins!

Even though I don't like them, I'm happy they won as malmo bet my team in the semi. And I never grudge an ex hibby a cup!

Did your team not win the cup last season? You can't get too greedy! :-)

Yeah, credit where credit is due the much maligned Kevin Thomson in his third spell with the club played his small part in our Cup success clearing off the line against the Hearts and helping to keep up morale behind the scenes with his big game experience in the cup run in. An excellent football player and very much one of our own.A true HIBS legend.
