I wouldn't want to vote either way until I know what he has done/does. When he talked about the role I found him to be very vague and it sounded almost like he saw himself in a sort of advisory position for the manager and coaches to speak to when they wanted some help, which I'm sure is appreciated but it's some way short of what I would expect a DoF to be doing.

Would need to know what he has contributed first.

Agree with this. Because of the mess we’ve made of recruitment, I think folk thought he just needed to come in and sort out a few players. A proper DOF should be coming in and really getting a hold of the club and reshaping things, I never got the feeling that was happening or going to happen. Either way, if you’re appointing someone to that position that only lasts a year, it’s another crap appointment.

It’s become another .net fact that he’s leaving. I don’t believe he’s going anywhere.

    Not having that.

Leeann appointed George Craig as DOF in 2014 to make sure that the club had a competent person running all aspects of the football operation. We moaned for years that Petrie as CEO was ill qualified to do that.

We can hardly complain when a CEO who is doing an excellent job in improving investment and infrastructure acknowledges the need for a football specialist.
This is where I am with Kensell. Unlike the appointment of Maloney, McDermott has all the necessary experience on his CV to justify his appointment.

With that in mind, the buck then lies with McDermott for appointing NM and ignoring all the red flags.

    Is there any need?

No, it’s a deeply tedious website full of people lying about their achievements and offering pointless ‘insight’.

But he did bring in a DOF at a time when he was taking a load of flak about Ross and Maloney being sacked.

If he wasn’t under as much pressure I doubt he would have taken 4 months to find a DOF.

If we took 4 months to find him and if he’s leaving so quickly questions have to be asked what is going on.

We keep hearing of “the plan”. Monty has one.
    There’s a plan with a bigger picture.
How’s about sharing some of it with the long suffering punters?

Maybe even if there’s a lag due to protecting commercial / negotiations they can show us surely it’s not that top secret? I wonder if they’d hoped that the Foley deal would be ratified earlier and that impacted the Jan window.

John Collins would be ideal for Dof
Not sure on DoF but certainly he should be head of our academy setting the tone on player development and what it means/takes to make it at the very top.
