We’re two or three seasons past needing a Stubbs-esque clearout/rebuild. Fortunately a number of players are out of contract in the summer. Obviously it’s something that will take a number of windows but what’s everyone’s thoughts on the squad and next season? For me:
New GK
Obita
New CB
New CB
Cadden
NMW
Amos/new CM depending on fitness
New AM
Maolida/new LW
New CF
New RW
EXPENDABLE/BACK UPS
Boyle
Newell
Youan (would cash in for the rebuild)
Miller
Rocky
ALF
Vente (probably try and get our money back)
Marshall (another year if a low wage)
Campbell (cash in for rebuild if we can get a fee)
Triantis (if cheap and as a DM)
ACTIVELY TRY AND MOVE ON
Mclelland
Tait
Henderson
Kenneh
Mckirdy
Mackay
Hanlon
Stevenson
Harbottle
JDH
Levitt
Wollacot
Tavares
Delfierre
Don’t keep any of the loans (Emiliano, Mayenda, Fish)
YOUNGSTERS - make decisions on:
Megwa
Boruc
Johnson

There is no argument to keep Marshall. Guy is poor and 1000 years old. Probably time to move Campbell on too. Mostly agree otherwise.

I’d be cashing in on almost every player possible.
Cadden would be on my to go list too, we concede far too many goals when he plays (not all directly his fault but can’t be a coincidence) feel he never takes charge defensively and rarely gets the better of his man.
Genuinely Moriah-Welsh is the only permanent player I like.

Its unrealistic to think we can afford a clear out on this scale. There are good or potentially good players in that list. People don't seem to talk about the team having a spine these days do they? Remember when we had a spine of Sauzee, Latepy and Mixu....other mediocre players around them were suddenly good players. Key as others have said is a commanding leader at the back, a dynamo in midfield and a reliable goal scorer. Oh and perhaps a manager who know what he's doing.

Newell would be a decent back up as well though at 31 his best years are probably behind him so I wouldn't be to pushed if we moved him on as he's probably one of our higher earners at the club too.

Marshall is murder. Sign 2 goalies and move him on.

Newell
Cadden
Wollacott
Amos
Henderson
Obita
McKirdy
Kenneh
Boruc

Both Campbell and Newell would be decent squad players though Joe is probably one of our higher earners and Campbells young enough to improve yet with another year or two at us to make us a decent fee in the future.
Certainly hope we find a good quality midfielder with leadership qualities who's consistent to take over from Newell which won't be cheap . Improving the first team while keeping a fairly decent squad is what I think we need to do .

We need a manager to get MORE out of the current squad. Until we replace Montgomery everything else is a secondary issue

Scary thing is we have a squad of about 30 of which you’d keep maybe 4 or 5 of them.

How crap that squad is?
The size of the rebuild?
Entrusting Montgomery with the job of rebuilding?
It's grim.

Whether with NM or not, if we replace most of the first team we should have a better chance of improved results.
I'm kinda basing this on us having learnt our lessons from the last couple of summers, and that we sign players for the here and now to play from the get go.
Really hoping we don't sign any more players for potential or that might come good. Get proper, proven players in this time.

I dinnae expect him to be moved on, but if he’s getting regular football next season then it’s going to be a tough watch and a tough season.

A lot of that list aren't really first team players, so I would keep hold of the young guys making their way.
I think at least Sixteen first team players won't be here next season:
My guess is this lot will be gone:
Marshall
Hanlon
Stevenson
Le Fondre
McKirdy
Marcondes
Fish
Triantis
Mayenda
Tavares
Harbottle
Delfierre
Henderson
Mackay
Kenneh
Tait
and probably Myziane Maolida as well (unfortunatley)
That gives us a core 1st team of:
Nathan Moriah Welsh
Dylan Levitt
Elie Youan
Dylan Vente
Martin Boyle
Joe Newell
Chris Cadden
Jojo Wollacott
Jordan Obita
Lewis Miller
Luke Amos
Jake Doyle Hayes
Rocky Bushiri
Plus spaces for at least 10-12 incoming + the kids

It'll not be cheap, but we have owners and investors with deep pockets so if they're serious about wanting a team that can challenge, spend the money and fix the mistakes that have been made. I've not got a load of sympathy for super-rich folk having to pony up in these circumstances.
It's not the fans that have got us in this position, if folk want to own a successful football club then it's on them to do it.Follow the Hibs podcast, Longbangers, on Twitter (@longbangers)

He has some strengths but he is an abysmal passer which will hold him back from being the standard required for where we aspire to be.

So it’s clear to say our B / Team Development team plan was a total waste of money as many predicted?
Oddly some fans have said when we won 5-1 in the testimonial recently it was some of the best football we have played all season.

Which are his workrate , versatility and the knack of getting into good goalscoring positions . He's also contributed by scoring important goals over the last two seasons . Being a hibby I always get the feeling he'd go through a brick wall for the team too which is something we don't see with some other players .
Maybe Monty will want to move him on , who knows . Though given a choice of taking someone off the bench that will put themselves about and might chip in with a goal , I'd have Campbell over Levitt everyday of the week . But that's just my opinion.
