    Hibs Supporters Club POTY

This could be an interesting night, I wonder how many first team players attend and the mood of the fans to the players.

A few of us that have been to plenty POTY nights at Sunnyside (but not this one.!) were wondering how this would go last night. By tradition, the manager pretty much always makes a speech. Apart from one year when Fenlon didn’t turn up as I think he was in Ireland.

Best thing to do is cancel it. Could get messy.

Nah best would be to have it as planned and people take responsibility for their job at Hibs and behaviour. Shouldn't be an issue as long as respectful imo.

Monty is apparently there so he’s not been sacked and probably won’t be sacked anytime soon.

To be fair he’s probably not had a meeting with the club till tomorrow so could be his last official Hibs outing.

Fair play to the guy going on a Sunday night - sadly though we need a better manager.

No danger the board let him attend some swanky dinner and give a speech etc then punt him tomorrow. If he's there he's not going just yet

Can I ask why does it say a lot?

It’s his job and hiding from the fans would be the worst thing to do - fans appear very split on stay or go so he needs to go front it out in my opinion?

Talk to the fans listen to them and share his Vision for the future is surely the right thing to do?

He’s surely not getting credit for turning up to a club event? Haha he’s probably obliged to go to these events.

It would say a lot more about him if he never turned up.

He’s the manager of the club, and until he’s not he should 100% turn up.

Because he knows he will likely get flak.

Just put yourself in his position, you'd be ****ing dreading it. Could easily make an excuse and not bother.

    He didn't and he's there.

It’s not a club event, it’s a supporters association event which he is under no obligation to attend.

    It’s no a club function.

In the circumstances, he could easily have swerved it.

Nice to read some posters on here have some humanity and compassion. We're all disappointed but doesn't mean we have to lose all sense of understanding.

    Well said 👏

I 100% understand he would be dreading it, and rightly so.

But he’s our manager, he needs to face the public and support no matter what. He and everyone at the club will know that.

I never meant official, but you know what I mean.

I’d imagine he’s expected to be there or said before he’d be there.

I’d be disappointed if our manager never attended an event like this.

I think it’s possible to accept that it was an event he had to go to whilst also recognising it must have been a difficult one for him to go to, and respect him for attending and taking any flak on the chin.

I think he’s a hard working good guy and I’ve not got any bitterness towards him at all, I’m grateful for him uprooting his family and trying his best for our club. I just don’t agree with any arguments for keeping him next season.

I hope tonight passed tonight without it being too painful for him and he goes on to have a good career

He’s faced the music. If he’d chosen the easy option and not turned up then he would have been ridiculed. On a personal level we can all probably put ourselves in his shoes for tonight and accept that won’t have been easy. Let’s remember this is a non club event in his own time.

I and many others want him out (it’s nothing personal and for nothing other than football reasons) but on a human level you can respect him for facing the music tonight.

From what I heard he rigidly stuck to pints of lager early in the night despite it not really working for him and leading to a frequent urge to go to the toilet. He then found a rhythm that seemed to work when he mixed a rum from Guyana and a Brazilian caipirinha into the mix but an inexplicable urge to down a Portuguese rose at every opportunity proved his undoing and inevitably sent him home early.

Crap jokes aside fair play to him for fronting up. I remember Heckingbottom pitching up at an event at HTC about a week before he was sacked and there is no way it can be easy. He would probably rather be just about anywhere else tonight but he's fronted up so hats off to him.

Thank you for update . Was an occasion to recognise players not to assess manager . Congratulations to 3 players mentioned .

Newell? What a joke. Says it all for the season we have had. Not been many pass marks but Obita deserves it more for me.
