    Please help settle an arguement

What are the old fashioned orange juicers called?
The ones that looked like a glass dish with a mound in the middle. You would cut the orange in half and twist it on the mound in the middle of the dish and the juice would be collected.

Can someone help save me from divorce and tell me what they were called ?

    Cheers 😄

Lemon / citrus squeezer? I use one like that, and that's the name that came to mind when I saw your question. But now I'm thinking about it, I don't know if there's an official name for it or if I've just made it up.

I think the modern and fancy ones are called citrus presses, if that's what you're thinking about. The old glass ones don't press anything though - you have to do the squeezing yourself.

I just see reference to citrus juicers these days. I think that's what they'll call them manually operated or not.

However, I did spot the term "orange reamer" so wondered if that was what you were looking for.

    No , not that.
I'm maybe going nuts but I'm certain it had a one word name.

This all came about when buying ingredients for cocktails haha.

A reamer is a different thing altogether. That's a wooden or metal pointy utensil you stick in the cut fruit and twist while you squeeze. I think.

Better half calls it a "lemon squeezer"

    :-/

I've only heard them called manual juicers or a citrus squeeze.

You also get a Mexican elbow which is a hinged 2 piece juicer/press.

Yeah. Saw them. Had these manual press things alongside them. I guessed they were reamers too, I mean, aren't we all?

Tell us what you've told the wife they're called and we'll organise two pages worth of folk agreeing with you and saying we've never heard of squeezers, just don't show her the first page

    😄

I think I'm going to have to give in.
I've asked everyone over the last week and they all think I'm imagining it.
It will irk me forever more though.

Less drama than being married tho!

Congrats on your divorce and new happiness.
