Bit of advice guys. Recently had some walls in the house plastered and now looking to paint them. Should I use a mix of PVA glue and water as an under coat or use watered down matt paint.

I've been advised to use emulsion watered down by 10%.
I did the same about a year ago on a ceiling and it worked out fine.
My wife tells me I've another ceiling to do before Christmas! It was supposed to be before my birthday ... in July. Nag nag nag!Space to let

Just ignore it mate, she’ll forget about it. Probably. If not, do half of it and then say you’re needing a seat and then say you’ll finish the rest “the morra”.

A lot of DIY telly programs in the 90's used to go mad with the PVA on walls. My mate who is a painter & decorator insists this has the potential to cause damp in certain situations.
Watered down (cheap) emulsion is the way to go or buy a lot of trade undercoat.

Recently carried this out myself.
Make sure and buy a tub of contract matt and water down by around 20%. One coat is fine.
After that use vinyl matt for your top coats.

Mist coat first, any emulsion mixed with approx 20% water does the trick.
