Some player. Different, pre-sportswashing era of success for City.

Love that goal he scored for Derby that they've included in the BBC tribute. He looks a bit chubby at that stage of his career but it's a thing of beauty.

Good player although he liked a wee dive for a penalty now and then. Remember him & Norman Hunter having a punch up during a Derby v Leeds game. Think it’s on YouTube somewhere.

Sadly, covid took Norman Hunter in 2020.
His nickname was "bite yer legs" and he was rough.. I will say no more than that.
Wee Frannie gave as good as he got ,if not better in that clip i linked.
    Lee was a super player

The Scottish version of that famous pagger

    That's really sad.

He was a fantastic player in his day, winning the league with Manchester City and Derby County.

I have a vague memory of him making a fortune in the toilet roll manufacturing industry after he hung up his boots.
    Cracking player, hard as nails.
    RIP Franny Lee

I’m sure I remember Hibs playing Derby County back in the mid 70s, I think when they had just won the English League. I have a vague recollection of Frannie Lee scoring the winner. I could be just dreaming it. I’ve still got the programme somewhere, I wonder if I added any notes on it.

We played them for our Centenary game.

They were English champions at the time, as you say.

Dig through this piece, and you'll find the cover of the programme. Bruce Rioch scored the winner.

    Maybe this one?

We played Derby County for our centenary celebrations in 1975.

Apparently Bruce Rioch scored the winning goal, with an attendance of 17k

    (EDIT: Too slow)

Was that not a game to celebrate our centenary? We lost 0-1, mibbies.

Lee was a great goalscorer. His raised arms, chest puffed out look seemed pretty iconic to me after he scored (all viewed on match of the day of course). Wee guy but a massive heart. Great swedge with Hunter, but deserves to be remembered for this https://youtu.be/aY7nLorIU6g?si=WXW_4Px59lhMAf3x

Edit-Too busy watching the genius of Francis Lee, quality player.

That’s the game (and programme). Ah so it wasn’t Frannie that scored then. That was some Derby Team. I remember the match but details are a bit hazy, but it was nearly 50 years ago…. Gawd I’m getting old!

He was a great player in a very good Man City team with Bell and Summerbee in there with Corrigan in goal. Won a European final if my memory serves me right.
    RIP Franny Lee.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
    He'll die before he's sold.

Think Clough and Taylor were away by then but they did an extraordinary job at Derby, winning the league just two seasons after getting them promoted. They went on to do an even more remarkable job at Forest.

Lee was a tremendous player. Fast, combative and with an eye for goal.
Clever chap off the field too.

Cup winners Cup, v Gornik Zabre from Poland (who had knocked out the Hun, possibly in the semi final).
