Aitken played the 90 as Airdrie beat Dundee 1-0. O'Connor came on after 53 minutes.

Murray Johnston kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win for Qots away to Elgin which also saw Kyle McClelland sent off on 71mins for two yellow cards in 5 minutes .

Dylan Tait played 68 minutes in a 1-1 draw for Hamilton away to premier League Livingston.

Good to see the guys out on loan getting some minutes and experience.
Thats brilliant for the loanees and justifies the deals... how many have these hybrid loan contracts where they train with Hibs when no training with club loaned to? (think these have double benefit) realise normally when p/t team

The players still train with their loan clubs when on development loans. They are usually go to part-time clubs so training is in the evening and doesn’t clash with Hibs training.

I think O’Connor and Aiken have benefited from going to Airdrie early and doing preseason with them. Often when we send players out on loan they join clubs late in the transfer window and have to try and win a starting space in an established XI.

Must be better as in effect they are getting F/T training while playing with PT team and have the benefit of Hibs coaching / diet / science input where hibs can really see how they are progressing - SHOULD make for more informed decisions when it comes to who to keep and develop and who is not going to make the grade

Josh O’Connor started and played 70 odd minutes last night for Airdrie. Murray Aiken an unused sub.

Murray Johnson was on the bench as QOTS drew 0-0 with East Fife (lost on pens). Kyle Mclleland suspended after sent off at the weekend.

Obviously not sure what the exact situation is at QOTS but hope Murray can establish himself as their number 1. Not exactly a great loan if he’s only backup.

Max Fiddes, 17 year old striker just signed from Southend United.

Jay McGarva and Jake McGrath both academy players. McGarva played a bit for the U18s last season. https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/player/jay-mcgarva

    *Joseph McGrath.

Young team. Whittaker's still only 15 as well.
They've only gone and done it! They've only gone and won the Scottish Cup! What kept you, Hibs?!

Don’t know the final score but Burnley gave us a bit of a doing, we conceded a few goals. Think the average age of their squad was quite a bit higher than our own though by all accounts.

Aiken did get on in the 90th minute or so.

I thought I’d remembered hearing that Stephen’s son was with the academy but thought surely he’s not old enough to be getting to this sort of stage yet?

    Ta.

Our dev team is now more like a young under 18s. The better players have all moved on loan etc.

Patrick McPartlin reporting Burnley win 5-1 with Hibs fielding a very young team , some 15 and 16 year olds taking part. The trialists he believes were Miguel Cuadros (19, RB/RM) & David Tirado (18, CM) who both recently left Villarreal.

I've not seen Khan feature recently, injured or released?

    From @cabbageandribs on Twitter

FT @StMirrenAcad 0 - 3 @HibernianFC U18s. 1st half goal from Josh Landers and two late goals Dean Clelland saw Hibs open their season with a good win and sends Hibs top of the league for the moment. Dundee Utd 1-1 Celtic, Dons 2-1 Queens, Hearts 1-1 Well. Accies v Killie tonight

Just to confirm a few things people have already asked on this tread.
the Reserve league is again a limited format with only 9 games, with each team only playing each other just the once, there is also the Reserve League cup where there are two groups of five teams, winners and runners up going through to the semis.

The game at St Andrews was our youngsters against Burnley’s U20s. Hard game but two late goals from them put a bit of a gloss on the final score 5-1. Max Fiddes scored for us, but not sure if he has actually signed for us. He is an 07 so, not eligible for the under 18s.

Next Tuesday play Formartine Utd in the Challenge Cup/SPFL Trust Trophy, 7:30 at Meadowbank, the winners of that game play the winners of Brechin v Hearts B. Our team will most likely be a mixture of our fringe, Development, Reserve and U18s, much like the teams that played against Dunbar and Berwick Rangers.

Yesterdays CAS under 18s game against St Mirren was taken by Daz and Boozy. Quite a good game, with Hibs eventually getting the lead after 15 mins, Alfie Smith doing well in midfield and threading the ball to Josh Landers who beat the keeper. Saint had a number of chances but our keeper. Had a few good saves. Late in the game we played more long balls as they chased the game, Landers did well to keep their keeper on his toes and was able to feed Clelland who fired from just inside the box to make it two. With only a few minutes remaining Clelland scored from almost the same spot. 0-3, a result that sees us top of the league on goal difference. The Hibs side were without a number of their regulars as they had a couple of out with short term injuries and the rest training with the first team. Next game is against Hamilton on Friday at HTC, evening k/o, this is followed by a game against a hearts on Tuesday at the Oriam.

A number of last seasons U18s have been released, so doing take too much notice of the squad on the official website as it has not been updated.

Maurice thanks for the update, will try and get alone to some of the games this season. Until I saw something on the Hibs site yesterday, was the 1st time I knew their was a game was on
Disappointed only 9 games in the reserve league. The players overage for the 18’s, not going to have too much football again this season, unless they go out on loan
