Steve Clarke - don't under-estimate the job he's done. Incredible management being able to blend some good players into an excellent team. Feel a little bit like Wales of recent years - only better.

He is brilliant. I was cautious optimistic when he took the job and he couldn’t have done much better. The best thing is that he seems happy in the role and not likely to be taking any other jobs any time soon. Lucky to have him.

Who are they going to send out to play the Rodri/Odegaard role?

Handball decisions no longer seem to be based on reality
Absolute lottery. Any defenders in the box with appendages that resemble arms these days is a liability. UEFA should just give each team 2 pens at the start of the game to recognise their stupid pen rules.

Then allow us to get on with a game of fitbaw ?

So Georgia need 3 wins from their remaining 5 if we were to lose all our remaining games.

    Georgia’s remaining fixtures are:-

    Spain (h)
    Norway (a)
    Cyprus (h)
    Scotland (h)
    Spain (a)

Hard to see them getting 3 wins out if that.

Norway needing 3 wins from remaining 4 games if we lose all ours, they’ve got:-

    Georgia (h)
    Cyprus (a)
    Spain (h)
    Scotland (a)

Probably not impossible and I’m sure we don’t want it to go down to the last game.

One more win should do it for Scotland.

If we beat Cyprus away we’re pretty much there. We’d only need a point v Norway at home to finish above them if they win their other games. We’d not even need that if Spain beat Norway and Georgia.

The referee deserves a huge amount of praise for how he handled the situation.

    In German, ‘stauner’ means amazed.

They’re gonna be thoroughly stauner when they find out what it means in Scottish.

Feel like he is still underestimated. 10 wins in a row in qualifiers, promoted to the top tier of the Nations League and strolling to Germany. Madness. I guess when qualification is confirmed it will all sink in a wee bit more.

Agree with that. A difficult situation dealt with well. Was smart to have regular checks rather than naming a definite time for a decision. Also appeared to deal well with Georgia when they went in the huff. Assume they were told they would forfeit the game if didn't play. In the end pitch was certainly playable at restart.

The way I see it, bar their remaining game with us the other teams will finish on:
    Spain: 16
    Norway: 11
    Georgia: 8
    Cyprus: 0

Beat Cyprus and it's definitely over IMO.

The Doc accepted the Man Utd job in 1973.
Willie took the squad to Germany 1974
    Bad luck again
Never lost a group game, but did not progress.(goal difference)
Drew with Brazil, but should have slaughtered Zaire and beat Yugoslavia (draw)

Interesting fact on Wille Ormond, in 1977,he selected Celtic's Paul Wilson who would be the first non white player to represent Scotland in the 20th Century.
England had selected Leeds player Paul Reaney a few years earlier.
The term i use were the terms of the time "Non White and/or Mixed Race"
I think Viv Anderson of Nottingham Forrest was the first Black player to pull on an England shirt in 1978.(20th century)
Quite amazing considering that pro football had been going so long, but i guess these would be the sons/grandsons of the Windrush generation.and post war immigration .
Sorry for going off topic, but it was to highlight the historic callup/selection by Willie Ormond of Paul Wilson.

Willie resigned just before the game that we will aye remember Gordon McQueen for.
He leapt so high he nutted a seagull.
I was in line of the 18 yard box where the cross/free kick was made./
Some things in football life just dont leave you.
Even though in drink that day, i remember that moment and the exuberant aftermath !
