It’s impossible for him to come back till after the financial year ends of he or someone is paying his tax in KSA. Or he takes a big hit on

Boyle isn’t coming back anytime soon. This is pie in the sky stuff thinking he’s coming back now.

It makes no sense to let him become available and alert other clubs. We need to be alive to the situation in the months ahead and not tie up more wages in a mikey Johnson type deal.

The guy isn't gonna give up a million quid a year to come back for 250k he has to pay hefty tax on. Not going to happen.
I wouldn't do it, and I don't think anyone on here would either.

If he has a good World Cup, come January he’ll have a good few clubs offering him a move from Saudi on far more money than Hibs will give him.
He’s not coming back.

How many season tickets/pay at the gate/shirt sales would we get if Boyle came back?
Given the chance for him to come back (there’s this tax thing I don’t know enough about) the question is - can Hibs not afford to take it?
Also explain the question influx of squirrels in the capital just now. Clever marketing ploy

What would happen with his wages and the tax situation if he was loaned back to us…

He would have to pay top-rate UK tax on everything he has earned in SA.

Has he not been away more than 6 months? A few ex workmates of mine work out of the country and as long as its more than 6 months of the year they don't pay tax..
Although it may be April to April

Basically, 6 months in any 1 tax year would remove him from UK Tax. He doesn't have that in either tax year.
He could opt for the split-year basis, which would allow him to split the 6 months across tax years. But he can't do.that until he's been away a year.
Disclaimer. Residency issues are notoriously complicated, so this is not necessarily chapter and verse on his situation. It is, however, something that is very real for him and which needs proper advice.

Horrible how many on here think money is the most important thing in all this chat.
He may not give two hoots about the cash in the end if he is homesick, missing his family, not enjoying life in SA, not enjoying his career in SA, worried about a contract dispute, worried he’ll get stuck in SA…. So many more important things than money.
It was a big decision to go to SA, life changing for him… but not all choices work out for the best.
Many on here stating he will get offers after the World Cup… so why not come home, take a decent wee contract at Hibs for a couple years and hope he gets an offer from down South for a few years after the World Cup, just write off this whole experience.Last edited by BlackSheep; 31-07-2022 at 07:33 PM.
