Hibs are Hiring: Academy Operations Manager

    https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/3157609357

Looks like a great job - a challenging and interesting role description with varied responsibilities.

But I do wonder: is this really a £25k a year post? Personally I’d say it’s a busy portfolio for even twice the price.

25k is an insult for a role such as this.

That’s what I thought. Can’t expect to attract top talent for a role like that for 25k.

A lot of People do these roles for free as volunteers for smaller clubs …it could be a nice entry into a paid role for someone who wants a career in football

Not surprised, seen other roles in the past that we have advertised and by the looks of it the under pay by a good 10k-20k, makes you wonder the type of calibre of people applying

Does anyone know what similar roles at other SPL clubs pay?

I honestly don’t think it’s a horrendous salary, for a job with zero qualifications required. It’s admin. I work at the Uni and know folk who’ll be on a similar wage for admin roles too.

It’s not “well paid” by any means, but what do folk think that kind of role should pay???

Yes, get that - but if you are doing that for (say) Raith Rovers etc, there is a good chance you are doing it for free or very little remuneration….so could be a good opportunity…

Hearts were offering £25k for a football operations manager for their b team/womens team recently so the pay is probably the same at most clubs

Hibs certainly have form for paying very poor wages in some positions.

Also have to be a bus/mini bus driver by the sounds of it.

Driving License - this is a mandatory requirement

57 applicants and rising so guessing some people are interested.

    Kudos to the successful applicant.

It will appeal to someone starting their career or someone who’s retired and may want the kudos of working with Hibs.

Someone starting their career isn't going to have the knowledge that the role is asking for.

They may well do if they have already been doing the role on a voluntary basis for another club which is often the case with this type of role at smaller clubs.

I said similar when they announced the salary they were offering an approved 18th edition sparky and got shouted down for it, so it’s clearly not the only role they’re trying to no pay the going rate for.

It really makes me wonder if people actually hate Hibs when I read stuff like this. The role and salary will appeal to some people, anyone it doesn't appeal to doesn't need to apply.

The club are clearly trying to do what's best for the good of the club, team and supporters but there are some people who want to pounce on any opportunity to knock Hibs. It's bloody depressing reading the constant negativity when it's clear the owner is making a huge effort, more than at any time I can ever remember, to improve the stadium, matchday experience, training facilities, communications to supporters, team on the pitch etc.

No wonder people take themselves off the forum - who needs to see the constant stream of negativity towards the club!!

And here's £25k for being a key part of the above.

It's absolutely nothing to do with hating Hibs. The salary they were offering for tradesman was poor.

Would you accept Hibs paying crap wages for a player because "it will appeal to someone"?

Yep, that was very poor. I very much doubt they filled it with someone who had all the qualifications they were asking for. Infact, I'd say no chance that happened.

We pay the wages the board agree to pay, and get the quality of player who’ll take it.

Isn’t that what happened with the spark? They aren’t still advertising, so they got someone.

Yeah, they no doubt got someone. I'd be absolutely stunned if it was someone with the qualifications they wanted, though.

Its not like there aren't plenty of people in this world being well underpaid for work they do. This is no different. An electrician at ER could have the safety of dozens during the week, potentially thousands on a match day, in their hands. Not a role I'd be paying peanuts for personally.
