Wow, I'm never too switched on to football in the close season but I must be more out of touch than usual as I've just discovered this is a competitive game!

Even by today's near year-round football calendar is this not an exceptionally early start to the domestic campaign?

    Aye, it’s an early one.
On this day four years ago we played Blackburn in a pre-season friendly, Paul Hanlon’s testimonial. Now the league cup group stages (And possibly the World Cup schedule?) have us playing a competitive game. I’m delighted with that, can’t wait to get back to business at ER.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,

Normally I'd agree, I think he should probably play the 2 easy ones against Clyde and Bonnyrigg but also important Marshall is up to speed.

Hi Hibiza, Does this mean you prefer Kevin to Marsh, personally think we have to go with our more experienced keeper,in order to form a settled defence before the big league kick off. Also hope that Kevin will see it that way and stick around,

Left it very late to sort tickets so hoping there are many more doing the same - looking at the seat availability it’s lucky if seats sold are into four figures.

Just had a read about it, it seems when Celtic signed both there work visas were already sorted the time they were signing.

Even then, I’d have thought work visas for players arriving from Japan would have taken longer than a player arriving from Portugal
    What makes you think that?

Both have almost identical immigration policies now

Ofcourse pre Brexit, the portuguese signing could play the same day

With news that a couple haven't got the documents through yet, a new 11 is needed.

    Porteous
    McClelland
    Stevenson

    Kenneh
    Henderson
    JDH

    Hauge

I was going to say that - presumably if you’re not from the UK then it doesn’t matter where you from. Someone born in Calais, France will be treated the same as someone born in Afghanistan I presume?

Looking at the match preview it seems everyone of the new signings are available apart from Bojang

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

That’s dated 6/7 so at that point the club must have been hoping they would all be cleared (except Bojang), looks like that is not the case now.

Bojang, Youan and Tavares are all out as they have no work permit yet and Miller is doubtful as confirmed yesterday by Johnson.

This work permits thing is actually really worrying, especially as we have Hearts so early. We really needed to have these new guys confident and up to speed for the season starting and thats already looking unlikely. Would much prefer to have Youan scoring 4/5 goals against these crap sides in the league cup than sitting out these games and being on the bench for the league matches because he isn't fit.

That won't be a bad thing. The manager will need to see him in competitive games to see if he is part of the puzzle. He looked like he was miles away last season but perhaps he can still be useful. I always like at least one target man type and although I don't rate Doidge that highly he has had the odd spell where it all fell into place.

He really needs a goal - hopefully get one today.

Anyone offer any info on McClelland?

Never seen his name before other than he's a young lad we got from Rangers.

Like the other's, played a half in each of the two bounce games in Portugal and looked good.
