It's going to get ugly if Maloney doesn't change the system and still loses this game.

It seems to be staring most fans in the face but not the manager, always a worrying sign if you ask me ...
He has already changed it both before and during games on numerous occasions.

How often has he played 2 up front - remember a 1st half at ER then he changes it half time back to 1 up front and we won I think.

The problem he has is that every slight variation on the shape he's played still has too many players playing out of position and not to their strengths.

As a manager he needs to find a way of getting a tune out the squad at his disposal, and I have no doubt we'd have more points than we do if he just focussed on getting players in their natural positions until the end of the season.

Difficult to know what team Maloney will put out but one thing I am pretty certain of is that Campbell will play.Maloney rates him highly as he said at the Shareholders meeting.Even if he doesn’t play we still have a hopeless midfield and sadly all I can see is a real struggle till the end of the season.Hate to be so downbeat but this is what happens when you watch this current Hibs team.

    Dabrowski

    Rocky
    Hanlon

    Cadden
    Newell
    Lewis
    Doig

    Hauge
    Melkersen
    Doidge
    Jasper

All for goals and glory 😁

I’d go something along the lines of.

    Macey/Dabrowski

    Cadden
    Rocky
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Hauge
    JDH/Stevenson
    Newell
    Jasper

    Doig
    Melkersen

I think we’re more likely to see something like.

    Macey/Dabrowski

    Rocky
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Cadden
    JDH
    Newell
    Stevenson

    Henderson
    Melkersen
    Jasper

With a bit of luck Porteous wins his appeal and I’d have him in for Rocky.

Hope none of the 4 first team players away with international squads, pick up injuries
Doig and Campbell got a long trip for Tuesday’s game, Almaty in Kazakhstan

I'd like to see Hauge getting a start in Midfield, we need energy, positivity and drive in there and from what little I've seen..he's got all of those.

Yeah a week today, not sure what surface it’s on though
They are around 6 hours ahead of us, so think it’s a morning KO, UK time

    We could go

    Rocky
    Hanlon
    Stevenson

    Cadden
    JDH
    Newell
    Doig

    Mueller/Jasper as a 10

    Doidge/Jasper
    Melkersen
Might be better if we put someone in goals tho 😁

Definitely want to see more of Hauge. Energy and pace, he also knows Melkerson's game really well. I have said this before, Cadden and Hauge on one side, Doig and Jasper on the other side of the pitch. They will terrify teams with their direct play.

Looks like it is a grass surface. Think game will likely be about 2pm or so Uk time and an evening kick off over there.

Really depends who is back from injury, I’m sure Mitchell and Clarke were two we were hoping would be back for this and you’ve got to thing Magennis can’t be far off? No word on McGinn but his looks a sore one that’s easily aggravated and then I’d imagine Macey would be back.

Also depends on if Porteous is suspended or not.

    ………..……………….Macey…………..…

    ………….Rocky….Porteous…Hanlon…..

    Cadden…..JDH……..Newell…….Doig…..….

    ………………Jasper…………..Mueller………

    …………………………Melkersen…….

Purely for a more attacking and forward thinking option I’d like to see Henderson in centre mid ahead of JDH.

  18. #47
I’d like to see a 433 but a 352 would be nice also.

    Keeper

    Rocky
    Hanlon
    Lewis

    Cadden
    Henderson
    JDH
    Newell
    Doig

Jasper (playing slightly deeper than Elias)
    Melkersen

Hoping Clarke and Hanlon can play with either Rocky or Lewis in back 3 allowing Doig to play left mid. Henderson or Mueller supporting Jasper and Elias.
This 100%, he is one of our best attacking players, why we swapped him with Stevenson i have no idea, as good as Lewis has been, he's not the best at going at players or even stretching them, Josh does all that and is getting better all the time too.

That's it. Have a go at one of our better players recently.
Deary me, you really believe Drey Wright can do a job for us.
    That's frightening.

Yep think Doig is definitely one of the players who have progressed recently. Thought he is getting better at left centre back but definitely thinki he offers much more going forward. To have him on one side and Cadden on the right gives us good options wide.

I don’t get the hate for drey wright

I agree he is not a first pick but due to a horrendous injury list he has become a first pick and has done a good job in difficult circumstances

I don’t see him being a regular when we have players available again but he deserves credit for his contributions recently.

So obviously the case he has done it and done fine helping the team in the process. No one is saying he would be first pick but has proved he can do a job for the team. Was good v Celtic and Motherwell.

Agreed. 'One of our better players', 'done a job'.. do me a favour. He has been awful. Latterly he has managed plaudits from some quarters on the basis he is there, taking up space, running around, taking up good position and covering runs. At best a couple good interceptions. He does some good work off the ball. This is one of our attacking players. He offers us nothing in attack, nothing in possession. He hides in games and has zero confidence. There is no goals for us there, or assists, or going past a man - nothing incisive. If something does fall for him he hides and bottles. The latest one at pittodrie he is through on goal from a Porto long ball, if he wants it. He doesn't, checks his run shuns the responsibility. He looks busy of course but have rarely seen a player with so little/no end product in a Hibs shirt.

Think Doidge needs to play. Feel our forward options with Melkerson, Jasper, Mueller, Henderson at the minute are somewhere between too young/inexperienced at the minute. All good exciting players but Doidge needed in there for physicallity and for Elias to bounce off of. Would certainly play Melkerson and Jasper too so that would be my attacking 3

Hanlon being back to full fitness will be a huge boost.

Clarke now back training, game might come too soon but with Porteous being out Maloney might Chuck him in.

Id expect Macey to be back.

    Magennis? No idea

McGinn? No idea but seemed a sore one

Mitchell? Thought he wouldn’t be out long but still seems to be missing

JDH would be back fit you’d imagine, same with Henderson after his knock.

Would love to see Clarke start as his pace and energy would be a real bonus and he’d be willing to step out from the back with the ball. He’d also allow Cadden to go higher and has the ability to play a good ball forward.

    ……………………Macey………….

    ……….Clarke….Rocky….Hanlon….

    Cadden…..JDH…..Newell……Doig…..…

    …………..Jasper…..Henderson….

    …………………..Melkersen……

although I expect it to be

    ……………………Macey………….

    ……….Rocky…Hanlon….Doig

    Cadden…..JDH…..Newell……Stevenson…..…

    …………..Jasper…..Henderson….

    …………………..Melkersen……
