Doig reclaims his place from Lewis and JDH drops to the bench.

JDH was gubbed at the end of Thursday so no surprise he’s benched. Hopefully Allan makes a difference against their eleven behind the ball.

    4 attacking midfielders + Nisbet.

    5-0 at half time.

    Not loving the team.

Looks a bit like going back to what failed against St Mirren to me.

    We'll see.

I don't know who may be carrying a knock or may still be knackered after Thursday but I wouldn't have been in a rush to drop JDH or Stevenson and I suspect we'll have issues trying to accommodate someone in the left wing? striker position who is far from natural there.

Wouldn't be like St J to score as many as that.

    Screens look lovely.

    JDH benched. Interesting.

Not loving that team today at all but what do I know.. I certainly wouldn't have been dropping Lewis for Doig who has been poor so far this season- and the front 3 looks the same that just didn't work against St Mirren last weekend

Big calls from the manager. We look light in midfield

A fit JDH would have given us the energy we've lacked against them. Hopefully he'll have enough in the tank to come on and help us see out a win...not very confident though.

He was absolutely goosed after an hour in the last 2 games after being ill. No surprise.

Certainly looks like we are going for it.

I'll let you know if that is a smart move in 3 hours time.

He's just back from covid, perhaps not 100% yet?

    3 at the back ?

Radio seem to think we are going 352

McGinn, Porteous and Hanlon as a back 3. Doig and Cadden as wing back. Newell, Allan and Magennis in the middle with Boyle and Nisbet up top.

I never read it as that initially but I suppose it could make sense.

That actually makes more sense than how I initially read the team too tbh

Assuming three games in a week after illness for JdH is too much which is fair enough. Probably the strongest team we could have played. Cadden is a bit of a square peg in a round hole as a forward winger but with Scott not setting the heather alight so far it’s probably a necessity if we want to stick with the current formation.

Only debate for me might have been straight swap Gogic for JdH but we’re at home so i’m glad we’ve went with an attacking line up.

Edit - if we are going 3-5-2 then disregard 😂

Ambrose starts for SJ. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

We did match Hearts with their 3-5-2 I suppose.

St Johnstone have lost Middleton and Brown to injury today and Kerr, McCann and Tanser moved on in the summer.
A much changed team from last season

That would make much more sense.

At the St Mirren game I wondered why we didn't do that first half - same personnel but tweaked a bit.

If it's our usual formation but with Boyle or Cadden on the left then it might be a bit of a struggle.

I like Boyle as a striker, I know many don't. With Allan in there to provide some ammo we'd have a cracking threat in behind them, as well as a partner for Nisbet.

I would have kept Stevenson in the team.

New v St Johnstone strategy appears to be relentless attack.

Traffic's rotten from the A1, Milton Link etc. If anyone wants some pointlessly late traffic advice.
