Sadly we aren't getting the lucky break we thought we might. The German government have lifted travel restrictions to the UK, so they'll be fielding a stronger team full of Bundesliga players.

Scotland vs Austria

Massive game this, as Austria will be our direct competition for finishing 2nd in this group. I don't know a great deal about this Austrian team, but hopefully we can get a good result.
My team:
Marshall
McTominay Gallagher Tierney
Palmer Jack Armstrong McGinn Robertson
Adams Dykes
Would love to see Kev starting, but I can't see it in the first match.

Jack has missed the last few weeks for Rangers, so I'm not sure he'll be fit to start the first game. McGregor is almost certain to be in midfield.
Agree with Armstrong, who is in good form just now, way better than the likes of Christie and Fraser.
Toss up between O'Donnell & Palmer.
But will cautious Clarke go with two up top?
Nisbet might get on as a late sub if we're chasing against Austria or Israel and should get a start at home to Faroe Islands.

Hendry at the back and McTominay in midfield sounds decent though, hope that's what Clarke goes with

Being someone that loves the Bundesliga, I know all the players that Austria have selected from there. Austria generally play a 4-4-2 formation & looking at their previous games I expect them to line up like this:
Pervan (Wolfsburg)
Lainer (Gladbach)
Hinteregger (Frankfurt)
Dragovic (Leverkusen)
Ulmer (RB Salzburg)
Alaba (Bayern)
Schlager (Wolfsburg)
Ilsanker (Frankfurt)
Sabitzer (RB Leipzig)
Gregoritsch (Augsburg)
Kalajdzic (Stuttgart)
I don't personally feel there is a huge deal between Austria, Scotland & Denmark. I do however feel they both have more standout players than Scotland who are more workman like.

My feeling is we need to win the home Austria tie to have a chance, or not get beat and win the Vienna one 😂
Surely we will beat Israel one of these times?
If we could win all 3, which is fairly realistic, theb that would be a great confidence booster going into the Euros with 3 wins in a row beforehand.

Hasn't played for a month since sustaining a calf injury against Dundee Utd
Will they bring in a replacement or just go with what they have?
Turnbull is in Glasgow so no great hassle to get him along.Last edited by CMurdoch; 22-03-2021 at 07:35 PM.
