    Scotland vs Austria

Sadly we aren't getting the lucky break we thought we might. The German government have lifted travel restrictions to the UK, so they'll be fielding a stronger team full of Bundesliga players.

Massive game this, as Austria will be our direct competition for finishing 2nd in this group. I don't know a great deal about this Austrian team, but hopefully we can get a good result.

    My team:
    Marshall
    McTominay Gallagher Tierney
    Palmer Jack Armstrong McGinn Robertson
    Adams Dykes

Would love to see Kev starting, but I can't see it in the first match.

Denmark aren't the great shakes they have been previously. We should be aiming to win this group.

Does Clarke not want to play McTominay in midfield now?
    Jack must be a doubt

We probably have to beat Austria at Hampden to have any chance of a 1-2 finish, although it could be quite a cutthroat group.
Jack has missed the last few weeks for Rangers, so I'm not sure he'll be fit to start the first game. McGregor is almost certain to be in midfield.
Agree with Armstrong, who is in good form just now, way better than the likes of Christie and Fraser.
Toss up between O'Donnell & Palmer.
But will cautious Clarke go with two up top?
Nisbet might get on as a late sub if we're chasing against Austria or Israel and should get a start at home to Faroe Islands.

I could be wrong but i think McTomminay won't be getting used as a defender. Steve Clark is wanting him to play the position he plays for Man Utd. I think there is a chance Liam Cooper or Jack Hendry would be staring at the back so I think Ross Jack could drop out

    Marshall
    Cooper/Hendry Gallagher Tierney
    Palmer McTominay Armstrong McGinn Robertson
    Adams Dykes

    Just IMO

Cooper not in the squad - missed last couple of Leeds game through illness

Hendry at the back and McTominay in midfield sounds decent though, hope that's what Clarke goes with

Being someone that loves the Bundesliga, I know all the players that Austria have selected from there. Austria generally play a 4-4-2 formation & looking at their previous games I expect them to line up like this:

    Pervan (Wolfsburg)

    Lainer (Gladbach)
    Hinteregger (Frankfurt)
    Dragovic (Leverkusen)
    Ulmer (RB Salzburg)

    Alaba (Bayern)
    Schlager (Wolfsburg)
    Ilsanker (Frankfurt)
    Sabitzer (RB Leipzig)

    Gregoritsch (Augsburg)
    Kalajdzic (Stuttgart)

I don't personally feel there is a huge deal between Austria, Scotland & Denmark. I do however feel they both have more standout players than Scotland who are more workman like.

Sabitzer is a big time player.

My feeling is we need to win the home Austria tie to have a chance, or not get beat and win the Vienna one 😂

Surely we will beat Israel one of these times?

If we could win all 3, which is fairly realistic, theb that would be a great confidence booster going into the Euros with 3 wins in a row beforehand.

IMO Hanley to play before Hendry

    Cooper injured

Jack has withdrawn from the squad.
Hasn't played for a month since sustaining a calf injury against Dundee Utd

Will they bring in a replacement or just go with what they have?
Turnbull is in Glasgow so no great hassle to get him along.

Ha ha have you seen Scotland in the last 25 years.

We have an outside chance it is possible but highly improbable imho of course.
