    Crap restaurants...

Ok, I'm getting slightly irked about folk saying all the restaurants in the thread are great 😎 so how about a thread that's all about Shan ones...in folks opinion of course!

Chop House in market Street is horrendously overrated, tiny lunch portions and poor service.

I liked the food to be honest, I was happy with my portion size but I agree the service isn't great. I felt patronised by having the whole 'eating concept' explained to me. It was like that Catherine Tait sketch.

Further up that same road, I've twice been disappointed by La Garrigue.

Spice Lounge in corstorphine has some nice food but the service is shocking!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

The Ravleston in Musselburgh, overpriced garbage.

The Indian Lounge on Rose Street is quite possibly the worst Indian restaurant in the UK. The food is 2nd only to the service in terms of woefulness.

The owners replies to TripAdvisor reviews are worth a read though. He's clearly in denial.

Is that the buffet place? Great for a hangover. Where else can you get a roast dinner, noodles and a curry on the same plate?! Essentially a glorified feeding trough, really.

Was many moons ago now, but Hard Rock Cafe in Edinburgh was undoubtedly the worst Hard Rock food Iíve had in the entire world. And Iíve been to a good few of them (much to my wifeís chagrin).

At a hotel I was staying at near Birmingham airport I couldnít be hooped going into town so ate at the hotel restaurant. Went for chilli con carne and they evidently ran out of sour cream because it was topped with a huge mound of squirty cream!

The theme seems to be chains:

    Jamie Oliver
    Chiquito
    Cafe Andaluz
    Hard Rock Cafe
    Cosmo

Never understood the clamour around Frankie & Bennyís. Overpriced and the food is nothing special at all.

After a good hour of research, I can confirm the latter paragraph. I am almost tempted to try it next time I'm home out of morbid interest.

Agree pretty awful although the breakfasts are decent at a reasonable price.

The Basement - Mexican place. The portion size was tiny and the (small amount of) meat was no better than what I'd buy for 2 quid in Aldi and make at home.

Not been to the Edinburgh JO restaurant but his one in Newcastle was crap.

Gustoís on George Street (another chain) is also over rated and bang average

Throw slug and lettuce into the mix too.

Although I've had some okay food from all bar one. Not awesome food, I don't think any chain would give that - but reasonable quality and price.

Decent value with their discount card (20%-50% off) but wouldn't pay full price for it.

I donít think thereís much of a clamour around F&Bís is there?

Itís not a place I really like that much but my boy likes it and so do my nieces so itís a place the adults will go to keep the kids happy and it does a job, thereís normally deals on which makes it a pretty good deal.

I had a couple of shocking meals there before so tended to stick to pizzas but ventured to other stuff when Iíve been the last couple of times and itís been fine, not going to win any awards but itís alright.

FWIW they do a really good breakfast thatís much better than their normal menu.

Worst restaurant Iíve been to is that Jamie Oliverís in town, hated everything about it.
