What’s the strangest memento you have from the cup final?

Believe it or not, I have an unused ticket from the cup final. I got one through Hibs TV international, but one of my friends included me in his group late on, so I ended up with a spare. I tried everything I could to sell it on to someone and as late as the day itself, I was in touch with two people who were looking, but both got tickets from elsewhere. I put out an offer on Facebook etc. but couldn’t shift it.

So now I have a brand new, unused ticket as a souvenir from the greatest game in history... Anyone else have some odd souvenirs, lucky tokens, street signs, or items with superstitious value from THAT day?

Still have my grass stained green Adidas Topangas (from sliding into the net at FT) which have sat in their box since cup final day. Have both my programme and persevered t shirt signed so would like at some point to get them on display in a glass cabinet

I have a picture of the bruise I gave my calf celebrating the winning goal.

There's also the t-shirt I only wear to cup finals, but hopefully I'll be able to bring that out again in the not too distant future!

I had a similar injury which made me smile every time I noticed it and was my souvenir from the game for a long time after - scrapped my shins off the seat in front of me celebrating Stokesy's opener and, though I hardly noticed it until the next day it took at least a year before the scars had healed properly. Other than that though - nothing other than the memories between my ears!

Didn't get a program or anything due to pre match rushing about - but it doesn't matter a jot because the shear joy of being there will live with me forever

Maybe a good idea to change them after 3 years, bud.

    I have..

    My ticket
    A programme
    Piece of the pitch
Strand from the goal net which SDG scored in.

More importantly - loads of really good memories shared with pals and random Hibs fans from that weekend.

I have a 114 (yes 114!!😃) page photobook that I put together from the plethora of internet pics online, interspersed with newspaper reports of each game, coupled with my own words of commentary for each picture/page. It’s actually 108 pages of photos plus 6 blank inside pages front and back but conveniently adds up to 114. Subtly suitable given the history.

Doesn’t just cover the final but the whole cup run. It’s unique. The only copy in the world. Took me a few weeks to compose it using the software provided by the print company.

I’m proud of it and will never part with it.

Picture of the front cover for info

Sample page from the opening section covering the Final itself.

I’m probably on some sort of watchlist after being escorted off a plane at Dubai airport by security. I flew back for the final from New Zealand, but Hibs changed the public ticket sale date for when I’d be in the air. Luckily, there was WiFi on the flight, and my booking was being processed as we landed. I hit in my seat until the cleaners were doing their rounds and they alerted security. I pleaded with them, but was dragged off with ticketmaster still loading. After answering a few questions, I got the confirmation email which was accepted as proof of my misdemeanour 🙈

Other than that, I was wearing some fairly non descript socks - I scribbled 21/05/16 in marker pens on them, so I could remember which were my new lucky socks. We lost to Brondby the next time I wore them, so clearly that’s bollocks.

    Me too!!

I helped an old man down to the pitch and thought 'sod it'... tore off a little handful of blades of grass (now dried and cherished). However the guy in the seat behind me had about a square foot of turf when he came back 🤣 He broke off a nice chunk for me - which is firmly planted in my garden. And will be coming with me whenever I move house

Oh and an Irish fiver!! I won the sweepstake on the bus and the £5 note was in there.

The cork from a bottle of champagne I'd been saving for that day.

The list of all the people who travelled on the buses I was running.

All the other stuff is just ticket, programme etc which I think most will have kept hold off.

I still have the winning football card you sold me on the bus that day. The £40 paid for a few beers that night.

I found a bright shiny 1p piece on my way to the turnstiles. I immediately identified it as a 'lucky penny'.

Framed in my living room with my match ticket.

ive got my programme signed by most of the squad, that liam fontaine got for me, im going to frame it with my match ticket and team sheet.

Adding to someone above losing their ticket, i keep all my tickets.

I had all the programmes and tickets from the 07 league cup win, my mate offered to get them framed, his dad was a framer, his dad took not well, so i left it.

When i went to him to get my stuff back quite a while later, he had lost them. i was gutted.

My only consolation is he worked for hibs as well, and that's where he lost them, somewhere inside easter road, they are in a cupboard or office, i suppose if they are anywhere, that's the best place

I have kept my ticket, programme, scarf and some grass from the Hampden pitch in an envelope.

All these items are in a box in the spare room. Also have a Persevered T-shirt in the box.

I kept some of the clothes I wore on the day of the final for while as well. A green checked shirt and socks with a bit of green in them. I always wore this shirt and socks whenever we played Hearts after we won the cup.

This shirt and socks went on a nine game unbeaten run against Hearts until they finally beat us last year. I thought about keeping them but they were getting worn out so binned them recently.

I look in the box at the cup final mementos now and again. Will never throw this out.

I bought a programme that day for the first time in decades and my daughter asked why and I really didn't know. I still have it and our tickets and a photo of me kneeling on the pitch holding my scarf aloft in roughly the position from where SDG scored. I also managed to get a few photo's of an ecstatic girl who I do not know and have never met. I keep thinking one day I'll see her at ER and be able to show her the pictures in case she wants them. Never seen her yet.......

I have numerous programmes from the run. I bought extra copies from the programme publisher for the Hearts and Inverness games for some reason, glad I did now! The only ones Im missing are the away games. Does anyone know if anyone is selling copies of them?

I went onto the ICT fans forum a month or so ago and luckily managed to get a copy of the away programme. Might be worth a try but sure the ICT fans are getting bored with Hibs fans registering to try and get a copy! 😂
