    Brilliant!

The first and best Sunshine on Leith

Remember being apprehensive before the game but looking at our line up on paper...what a team!

Likewise, in terms of being apprehensive. I think we'd had so many recent Hampden disappointments that it was difficult to go to the place with any kind of confidence. Mind there being a great atmosphere in the Clockwork before the game, with both Hibs and Killie fans bevyving together. Great day all round.

Was in Brussels for a long weekend, left a day early to watch it in London, great game and the SOL was amazing at the end. Rob Jones was immense that day, a real captain's performance not equalled until SDG.

Gotta love the picture Hibs have posted on Facebook of the podium celebration.

Everyone looks absolutely ecstatic to be there except Michael Stewart, who has a grudging "I suppose it's ok" half-smile on his face. Never change, Mikey.

I dislocated my knee celebrating the 3rd goal (fat mate landed on me)

No way were St Andrews first aid taking me to the treatment room "We're 3-0 up in the cup final"

    Oh the errors of youth!

Saw The Fall play a storming gig on The Renfrew Ferry the night before, stayed at a friends house in Shawlands and it was a liquid breakfast before the short walk to Hampden and a truly great Cup Final performance. Back to Edinburgh that night for what ended up a bit of a shambolic return to the stadium, and as we had entered the South after some had forced open the exits, the team were instructed not to parade the silverware in front of us which was unfortunate. The bus parade itself predated a lot of the 20mph restrictions as the driver powered his way through the streets
    A top weekend all round.

The team was asked to cease the parade for a number of reasons, including the old chestnut of numpties running on to the pitch. The Police didn't cover themselves in glory that evening. They were desperate to stop fans from approaching Easter Road, as the three other stands were seemingly full. Then there was a big gathering outside the south stand. They opened the doors to prevent a crush.

However, that didn't detract from a marvellous day at Hampden. I returned from Spain, with a skinhead. Met my pals, sister and son and had a blast. Thank god for the vendors selling hats though.

We were imperious, magnificent, majestic, dominant, decisive , incisive........everything I hadn't expected from Hibs through most of my Hampden experiences.

The 'best' is open to debate, but surely the first SoL was the home leg against AEK Athens?

It was a great day, the atmosphere was buzzing, the game was good - Hibs were terrific on the day, the crazy weather and the Frattellis, Sunshine on Leith and the players diving and skidding across the turf as they paraded the trophy around. Brilliant stuff. Doesn't feel like 12 years ago at all.

Agree was brilliant, the main thing was me how absolutely brilliant we were on the day totally dominated with a team full of quality. For that John Collins deserves the thanks from every Hibs fan as it hasnt happened very often through there.

Brilliant day, made all the better for my son when Lawrie Reilly signed his shirt.

Killie had a decent team which made it even more sweeter. 5-1 was unbelievable :)

We left about half way through SOL to try and beat the queues back to Edinburgh on the train, we must have been some of the first to leave. We were also part of the first group to storm the south stand, and witness the magnificent moment that a man ran from the back of the bottom tier of the south and timed it with a yobbo returning from the pitch. He clocked him beautifully and sent him flying back over the retaining wall. At least that's my memory of it, I was 14 at the time!

What a day, got the day off school the next day too, wore my Hibs scarf all week.

12 years man, Jeeez where does the time go, what a day, we were outstanding that afternoon, in a Cup Final broadcast live throughout Britain we were just superb, I remember being so proud of Hibs that afternoon, team filled with talent, I remember feeling a little but if regret that Mogga and KT weren't apart of it, it felt like the culmination of 4/5 years of work.

Not the first outing of Sunshine on Leith but I think it became a thing after that game.

In the snow and sunshine over Hampden

That was an amazing day. Six of us in the front row of the North Stand, snowed on for about an hour, and didn't care one bit.

We even managed to stay off the pitch at the end

    😏

I was reading the archive bbc match report - as my memory of the day is hazy - and Stewart was an unused sub on the day. Probably some justification for his wry smile in this instance!

Great day. You'll struggle to find many cup final performances as complete as that against such decent opposition.

I only passed my driving test 3-4 months before the game and drove up in my first ever car, an N-reg Ford Fiesta. Proper tank of a thing. Windscreen wiper came flying off on the M6 near Lancaster on my way home, had to try and get out and fix it on the hard shoulder in the middle of a blizzard. Still enjoyed the day though!
