He turned down the Scotland job and I imagine they would want compo for him which won't be cheap.

But that being said with the group they have for Euro 2020 he may decide to leave.

He is on a 6 year deal with a salary reported to be 700k a year......how much money do you think Hibs would have to pay in compensation to get him away from that contract??

    I’d be delighted.

It’s only been posted by the ‘Hibs Transfer News’ account, and he talks utter pish.

Don’t believe it for a second - plus - we’d never pay NI the compensation they’d be after.

i would have thought with that kind of length of a deal there would be some sort of release clause...?

on the other hand, i have no idea what i'm talking about

A lot. Problem is, these names get banded about, and then when the board go for someone else we get the cry that its the cheap option etc.....when guys like O'Neil are not realistic targets im afraid.

Not a reliable source whatsoever. Would be utterly amazed if it was true.

lol, aw man crazy stuff, i'm sure every manager with the security of a contract until 2024 and worth between 600-700k/year would jump at the chance to leave it all behind

Just how and why does the N.Irish FA get to pay O'Neil around £14K per week?
This is an FA that runs a semi professional domestic set up in a country with the population of greater Glasgow.
The role may also be classed as a part time one at that.
It just seems to me to be a little excessive no?

Usual suspect making up nonsense on Twitter - ignore. A quick look at the facts, i.e. his current salary and length of contract confirms we have zero chance of acquiring his services.

I thought the managers wage was paid by rich Irish benefactors.

Is there not some private backer that pays part of his wages?

He had a five-hour interview for the Hibs job prior to Fenlon being appointed, but he reckoned a whispering campaign that he was a bevvy merchant put the club off him.

Somehow don't think this rumour has got any legs, to be honest.

Can't see it this side of the summer as N.Ireland haven't started their qualifiers.

However, between now and 12 June, they have to play Estonia and Belarus, both Home and Away, who will be there main competition for 3rd place. They are all in a group with Germany and Holland, so you can guess they will be top 2.

O'Neill already knows that after June, then NI are out of it....

No chance. People on Twitter need to do better if they're going to make up rubbish.

Laughable. We couldn't afford his housekeeper.
Hibs.nets negative posting legend and unofficial ticket agent.

    That Transfer News account, honestly.

"Who would my followers be happy with as Hibs manager?"

    "Michael O'Neill?"

"Yeah sure lets go with that then"

And you just know there'll be idiots in the pubs next week who are telling their mates that Hibs didn't go after Michael O'Neill when he was interested in the job. Every piece of logic in the world would tell you that he definitely isn't.
