    Television, Drug of the Nation

We have 12 league fixtures to play before the split.

Only 4 of which will kick off at 3pm on a Saturday.
On the upside, 3 of the 4 are home matches.

4 matches kick off at 7:45pm on a Wednesday evening.

2 matches kick off at 7:45pm on a Friday evening.

The remaining 2 fixtures are lunch time kick off's. 1 on a Saturday and 1 on a Sunday.

Brutal stuff for our supporters especially those that travel to away games.

    TV cash is King.

Totally agree, but the Wednesday night games also highlights the folly of the winter break. The weather has been decent in the last few weeks, but is apparently about to turn much colder as the season restarts and fans will be asked to attend midweek games while the league plays catch up. It was the same with all the games we had crammed into December.

A total nonsense, in my view.

Could not agree more, always struggle to make the Wednesday games as I'm usually out of town.

The winter break doesn’t seem to serve any great purpose, but if we didn’t have to cram games in either side if it you could see some logic behind it. Just an inconvenience for fans and not much else.

Unless I've missed something, none of the Wednesday games are on TV, so it's only 1 in 3 games of the remaining 12 games which have been moved for TV.

I don't like lunchtime kick offs but quite like the Friday nights. Provided ALL clubs are fairly compensated, I don't think it's a massive price for fans to pay.

Wednesday night games are great imho. Love a game under the floodlights at Easter Road.

Games have been shifted for TV for 20-odd years at least, I'm amazed folk still haven't adjusted to it.

Wednesday often actually suits me better than a Saturday afternoon when I’m busy with work etc and I quite like games under the lights. Do agree regarding early kick offs though - Saturday I can tolerate as you’ve still the rest of the weekend to look forward to but hate lunchtime on a Sunday.

When you consider all the factors, an arbitrary break in January is madness especially when they just cram the fixtures in either side of it.
There has been no bad weather so far this winter with temperatures staying above freezing. But as you say this is forecast to change just in time for footballs return.
In a safety obsessed era where the state increasingly nanny's us in every aspect of our lives it is a wonder there has been no intervention to reduce the risk of road traffic accidents.

I've had some great nights under the lights at ER too; it's doubtless a consequence of getting aulder that I don't enjoy them as much as I used to, but my real point is that some of these midweek games are compensation for the winter break when we could have been playing the last couple of Saturdays without any difficulty, and (like last year) the real winter weather has still to arrive.

Having said all that, it probably hasn't done Hibs any harm this season having a few weeks off!

The title of the thread is misleading. It is a song title and was the first thing that came to mind when i saw our remaining schedule of matches.
The real points are the lack of 3pm Saturday kick offs made worse by the daft January shutdown and the unnecessary danger to supporters posed by away evening kick offs in winter. A few of these matches could have been played on the traditional time and day over the last few weeks instead.
Getting on a bit so sensibly wouldn't travel to away evening matches if road conditions are dodgy but young guys will try to get there whatever the weather.

Young Jason Cummings appeared to try it earlier in the season resulting in a subsequent alarming loss of form!

You can blame 2 of the 4 midweek kick offs on the absolutely ridiculous winter break. We had two perfectly good Saturdays (and a New Year slot as well) to play football on.
