It hasn’t worked out for RG in the way predicted, but there’s no doubting his talent. However, we have to be clear that this is a football rehab job, and those don’t always work out. But when then they do and a genuine player starts to perform at the level of their ability, it’s a fabulous thing to witness. Let’s hope this is a Scott Allan scenario.

It would not be a huge leap and I’d imagine he probably does speak Spanish so that combined with Portuguese and English is pretty good coverage.
Plus He’ll be able to swear at Scottish refs and get away with it ;)"We know the people who have invested so far are simple fans." Vladimir Romanov - Scotsman 10th December 2012

The obvious one is to the tune of Spandeu Ballets ‘Gold’ but for many that’s been retired after Rob Jones left

Buy someone not as good. At least he'll be ours and we can put him in the window for other teams to ignore.

Obviously the number of Portuguese speakers is helped by the large population of Brazil but it is also the official language in eight other countries worldwide and widely used in many others.
Due to Brazil's size and influence in South America, Portuguese is widely spoken as a second language in several other South American nations and is an official language of the South American trade bloc.
Due to Portugal's colonial past, it's also an official language in countries in Africa and Asia so it's certainly a language which has a global reach and I think that with Gauld being bilingual will help him when he's looking for work after he finishes playing.

Can I just clarify something.
Does being able to speak Portugese make him a better player?
If so, that's obviously where I went wrong, as I tried to learn Spanish when I was young.

We're missing a trick if we don't try to get Scott Brown to play beside him so we can sing "Gauld and Brown".

Could I just make a suggestion.
Before deciding what song we could sing about him, could we maybe just wait to see if he's actually any good?

I remember when Gauld initially moved abroad it was mentioned that he was getting a Portuguese language coach for evening lessons.
