    Christmas

Anyone else not lifted a finger yet? Nae cards, nae presents bought. The Mrs has done the food shopping; leave everything to her . I just can't be bothered this year. I've finally become a grumpy old basturt; used to love Christmas, too.

I always like to get everything done early so i can enjoy the run in. The biggest headache for me is my bro wants a ticket for the derby, so I'll know come 12:05 if hes going or not. I might even loan him my ST for the day.

I have a Peppa Pig kitchen to build and wrap and I'm done.

I'm usually scrambling about at the last minute but I've been organised this year and had most things bought by the 1st week in December and wrapped not long after. Definitely enjoying the whole festive spirit more by not having to brave the shops this week or sitting anxiously waiting on the post praying a last minute online purchase will be sent on time.

Totally different for me this year. Usually we are so organised and ready to head South on the 22nd.
This year due to my Dad’s illness we really weren’t sure if Liverpool or not. Sadly lost my Dad on the 12th so heading for the funeral which is on Friday and then back up the road for Christmas. I love Christmas time and will still try to have a jolly festive period with rest of the Edinburgh family. All the very best to all on .net.

We have a nice lunch and that's it.

Thank God all the kiddie stuff is over! I don't envy folk who have to worry about presents and shopping as well as all the other stresses in life right now.

We're going to the pub for Christmas dinner for the first time ever.

It'll be an expensive day, but it's just the 2 of us this year and we'd usually spend a lot more entertaining the family so we thought we'd treat ourselves to s lazy afternoon.

Cards were finished last night but I've still to wrap the presents.

Irritatingly, it's my wife's birthday on the 31st so I have to come up with another present idea.

Sorry to hear that. There's never an easy time but it always seems that bit more poignant around Christmas.

We went to the pub for Christmas dinner last year and it was great so we're doing it again this year.

None of us have got a house big enough for everyone so trying to squeeze everyone meaning the house gets too hot just wasn't fun. Then there's the fact not everyone wants the same thing to eat means it just makes sense.

Probably was more expensive but not by that much more when you take into account all the excess food that gets wasted after buying far too much.

It's also great to get out the house for a bit.

Sorry to hear that mate, looks like my mum is going to be in The ERI over Christmas, it's her birthday on the 22nd too so, it's pretty much cancelled for us this year. Will probably head to the boozer with my old man after we've been to the hospital on Xmas Day.

Very sorry to read that Scouse, and I hope your family all support each other through the very difficult first Xmas without a parent being around :-(

The Mrs isn't impressed with me at all. If I don't get my act together very soon, I may be homeless Christmas eve.

Like others, I'm sorry to read that Scouse. My dad lost his mother on the 24th (also happens to be his birthday) back in 2003, and it took quite some for Christmas to feel like a celebration again.

December is always a busy time for us, and that has an impact on my ability to enjoy it. My mum's birthday is the 13th, as per above my dad is Christmas Eve...we also spend a weekend down in London with friends around the 13th-16th each year, which keeps us busy.

A week to go and I still can't turn off and begin to look forward to it. I find out some time between tomorrow or Friday whether I've been successful in acquiring permanence at work or whether I need to find new funding before October.

Next year might feel different as my daughter will be old enough to know what's going on by then, but I could happily give it a miss this year - I hate the commercialism of it all, I'm not religious, so it's really just a family/downtime holiday anyway.

Awful news mate, truly sorry to hear. My condolences to you and your family

as for me, I always enjoy this time of year, although I cba with all the forced fun, secret Santa patter. My mums birthday is the 23rd, we always try to make a bit of a fuss so she gets to properly celebrate her birthday, and she always makes a fuss of every one of us on our birthdays, then on Christmas Day, my wife and I will be round to my folks for dinner, with a quiet evening afterwards.

This year will be special for us, as we’re going to be telling my brother and sister, and their kids, and my grandparents that we’re going to be having a baby in the summer, our first. Our parents know, but we’ve been holding off on telling the rest of the family as a surprise on Christmas Day. Can’t wait

Condolences for your loss. My mum passed around this time 2 years ago and it changes Christmas somewhat, it was always about the family but now even more than before it's about the kids.

Loved it myself for 60 years but now firmly in the "bah humbug" camp. I'll be lying on a beach in South East Asia drinking beer and eating fresh King prawns.
However you all spend it, have a happy day. 😉👍🏻

Last year I did all my x-mas shopping on my way home from work on my last day in the office. Took me less than an hour. This year I don’t have anyone to buy for so I will be avoiding the shops after I finish up tomorrow.
