Every keeper has a howler in them.

Goalkeepers at our level certainly do.

Last nights goal was a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly that should not be a reflection on how good a goalkeeper Bogdan is. He's made some great saves this season.
Twice in a lifetime he scored the same goal versus Hearts two weeks ago

Just a new safe goalkeeper that doesn’t have howlers in his locker please
Literally does not exist. Humans make mistakes.

Dont care what anyone says, goalkeepers aren’t at fault when they’re lobbed from that distance. His position was fine, it was just a great strike.

Couldn’t see what happened for the second but not coming for s cross is something you could say about Marciano as well.

Making changes for the sake of making changes doesn’t help. We’ve done enough of that recently already.
I agree. Marciano does not command his box as well as Bogdan although I think last night he showed a lack of confidence with doing that which I hope he gets back as he has been great for us as far as it goes.

Fairly standard position for keeper when ball is in the other teams half
    Indeed!

GK's are encouraged to stand around their own 18 yard line when the ball is in the oppositions half.

I thought Bogdan was at fault for both goals last night, far too far off his line for the 1st and should've cleared the ball for the 2nd, the ball was only on the 6 yd line ffs, the St Mirren keeper showed exactly how to punch a ball away, he did it 3-4 times, Bogdan let his CB's deal with that free kick instead of dealing with it himself.

Real Madrid don't have perfect goalies either.

    You know what?

What bugs me is that we have always had really good keepers throughout the years that very rarely made alarming glaring basic stupid errors until recent years that is.

Maybe I am just too old and have high expectations away above and beyond our station

    I blame Zibi! 😁

    Will let you off

Once in a game is once too much for me 😁

You would think the Video Coach would highlight his technique as it won Sky Sports goal of the day not an earth shattering accolade but out there

I think we're making too much of it tbh and to drop a solid keeper after something like that would be madness. Especially in a team that gets changed so often it leaves everyone guessing the team.

Not asking for him to be dropped only stating that he should have been made aware that the boy had it in his locker
As soon as the ball left his foot from his own half I knew it was a goal
Indeed the wifie sitting beside me screamed “Aw naw!”

Rocky will get his bingo number called Saturday I reckon and Bogdans confidence will be thrown to the dogs. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if Whittaker has the gloves on Saturday.

The team gets changed that much it’s not exactly settled with a constant keeper in goal. Saying that I wouldn’t drop Bogdan until he turns down a pre-contract in Jan.

Professional keeper should never be lobbed from distance unless he is way off his line which Bogdan was and his positioning was hardly fine. Wouldn't drop him though as he hasn't done enough wrong.

Here is Thibaut Courtois, the man who has recently won the award for best goalkeeper in the world, being lobbed from distance.

Genuinely asking here, did Mcginley or Charnley ever do that more than he once?

Yip! Pretty sure Chic did before he came to Hibs as he had it in his locker Pat McGinley scored from the halfway line as part of a wee bit banter he had with Chic “anything you can do” but sadly was all to go pear shaped I even remember Oxley scoring against Livvy

Once again I repeat I am not blaming or asking for Bogdan to be dropped all I am saying Is forewarned is forearmed he was taken by surprise and I don’t think he would have been surprised if he was expecting to be lobbed after all he scored the same goal two weeks earlier versus Hearts

Yip! Life’s a bitch Would take Courtois before Rocky or Bogdan any time

    I admit **** happens

Bogdan should have been primed that the boy had it in his locker and to be aware of it

Jim Herriot was a first class goalie for HIBS lost three in Split never played for HIBS again

The defence don’t seem very confident with Bogdan, look how many goals we are conceding
The defence are not confident..full stop...Absolutely nothing to do with trusting Bogdan.
Even Hanlon, who is usually so reliable, is making school boy errors.....along with another stalwart - McGregor
Porteous is still young and less intuitive than the two mentioned so can be forgiven for his recent school boy calamity.

Happy with Bogdan, especially with distribution compared to Marciano.

Yesterday’s goal seemed like a combination of weak hold up play and a screamer from the boy.

  27. #56
Yep, unlucky for Bogdan to pick up a late knock like that but I’d be keeping Marciano in goals for now. Defence seemed to trust him a bit more with collecting through balls, especially Porteous I thought.

Not saying Bogdan has been horrendous, and goalkeeper position is definitely the least of our worries at the moment in the team. However I'd like to see Marciano given a run of games now. Who knows maybe in certain games he would be able to pull off some of the saves he had no right to get to last season and it might just inspire the rest of his team a little bit.

Bogdan has pulled off some great saves at times this season and as I say it is least of our concerns within the team with defence, midfield and forwards needing prioritised.

From what I have seen from Bogdan and Marciano, I rate Rocky just that little bit more. IMO, just personal preference.
You been using a Bogdan voodoo doll mate 😜

    That's fair Billy

Marciano was unlucky to lose the gloves at Hibs and has been a great keeper for us. Bogdan's done ok, but - for me - Rocky has a better understanding with our defenders who seem to have real faith in him. Glad to see him back.

  31. #60
Marciano made me a lot more confident today, he looked solid and his distribution was excellent, I think Bogdan has done well but I’d rather Rocky was back as 1st choice.
