Just a thought... I'm all for getting the best players in but some effort needs to be put towards bringing some in permanent too. Understand this is hard in January.

I'd rather see us solve half our problems with permanent signings this window and then fill the gaps in summer instead of completely solving our problems with loanees this window and then being back to square one in summer.

Loans with ore contracts for next season would be ideal all things considered. Learn by past mistakes.

We may well be interested in Shankland but no contact as of yet. Or none that he knows of, anyway.

Mcnulty if he wanted a crack at hibs would be pretty decent signing.local lad as well.not a rumour though 👍
He might be natural police but we don't need someone who plays the game by his own rules.

Word here in Ayr is that we had lengthy discussions but a deal couldn't be agreed and that was that. Apparently it's his agent that's now trying to reignite, somehow facilitate, the potential deal again.

He'd be a very promising signing.

We’re probably a perfect fit for Lawrence Shankland.Needs to play in the top league and if he does well it’ll be a springboard.Wouldnt get on the pitch much for Celtic or Rangers. We certainly could do with him.

Typical newspaper click bait a headline because hibs are 3:1 with some bookies to sign him whilst the old firm are 4/1. No inside knowledge or any source quotes etc. Typical Media crap!

A SJM type deal would be a good way to try and get Shankland. I like the idea of player proceeds being shared with clubs where the player has been developed and it will ultimately make the game stronger.

Yup, a 33% of any future transfer fee could see them raking in more than a million if he is as good as they think he is.

I think the sell on % made the sale of SJM st Mirren the biggest income they’ve ever had from a transfer.

Exactly my thoughts. Absolute nonsense article.

Peterborough owner replying to a Hibs fan twitter account saying that Forest can recall Cummings if needed, and there have been multiple enquiries.

    Who is Shankland similar too?

  18. #4127
If our interest in Shankland is true, I do hope we’re planning to keep MacLaren. The signing of Gauld should benefit MacLaren and Kamberi.

I must confess that I don't know very much about Shankland, Ayr Utd or why he's scoring so damn often. Surely there must be other's in that Ayr side that play a huge part in wee Lawrence's goal tally? What a brilliant signing it would be if we could pull this off.

    Wondered that myself.

Who has all the assists at Ayr? Maybe we should be asking about them too.

Don't think we should. Ayr's recent form since Shankland has been out has been woeful.

To answer my own question, it appears to be Declan Mcdaid. 23 year old midfielder with 5 assists so far this season.

Doesn’t seem that much to be honest and nothing about his career to date suggests he would be someone we should be interested in.

With you on this one. Think it is too early to write off Maclaren. The service they've got this season has been poor...agreed Gauld could be key to getting a lot more out of these two. They showed us last season what they could do with good service!!

I agree. Feed those two lads with decent service and I think we'll see them score plenty

I can’t see Ayr selling him after releasing a statement stating that they won’t unless a loan until the end of the season is included. Unless they would be happy with potentially someone like Shaw going on loan to them until the end of the season

Ayr will sell if the price is right. He will walk for free in the summer anyway and if he says he wants to go then they won’t want an unhappy player for the rest of the season.
