He’s on a hat-trick on his full international debut. Great start for the Starman.

I’m at the game, and he’s looked the star man by all accounts - the most dangerous man on the pitch. Scotland’s loss.

I know its only Lebanon...but Scotland have missed a trick here.
He is a player that progressed hugely every year he has been here

He will give 100% everytime...and wont have any phantom call offs.

    Delighted for him. :)

Just watched his goal on Twitter, nice run and shot, big deflection but deserved.

Has a Hibs player ever scored an international hat-trick?

Come to think of it who was the last Hibs player to score 2 in an international?

Am I right in saying Boyle isn’t tied to playing for Australia, as these games are friendlies?

Regardless, well done to him. For me he’s the most improved Hibs player I’ve seen at ER. He shows what commitment and good coaching can do, even for an already established professional.

Funny to think that there are a couple of folk on here who still doubt his credentials and used a couple of recent poor performances to remind us of that. Noticably quiet on this thread though and hopefully that will remain the case as the Hibees go on a winning run on his return.

I think we've missed the boat here, Australia should they wanted him and chased him up to play, McLeish basically told him he wasn't needed or wanted because we had players playing in his position. He has a strong connection with Australia due to his dad, not like a grandparent link which can be less of a pull, with his personality I'd say he's gone now and we've missed that boat.

Yup, couldn’t see him turning his back on them and to be honest, why would he?

Probably right enough JC. To be fair Boyle’s position is one of reasonable strength for Scotland and you rightly remind me of his family context, Boyle will carry on playing for them. I hope he can establish himself as an international player. It also raises the profile of Hibs in Australia and with MacLaren and Milligan also in the squad, it might help us secure other Aussie talent in the future.

Just realised he assisted the 3rd Aussie goal too.

    Played 2
    Scored 2
    Assisted 2
    Not a bad return.

Noticed Milligan wasn't in squad at all? Please tell me he's not injured...

Is Boyle's father of Aussie stock or did he just happen to be born there to Scottish parents?

That's Martin Boyle you're talking about though is it not?

Playing against South Korea will be no cakewalk.

One of the best teams in Asia, tough as boots and not bad technically either.

Martin will notice the step up from club football in this one.

His biggest challenge will be Asian conditions tbh.

The Aussie guys have played in the A-League which is run in the euro winter/Aussie summer and play most games in 25-35 degrees.

I mean it was 19 degrees tonight in Sydney, which is quite possibly the hottest game he’s ever played in.

The average temp in the UAE in Jan is 26 degrees, so it’s going to be a big shock coming from an Edinburgh winter.

Wait until he has to play in a Thailand, Oman away game in 30 degrees and 100% humidity.

The Asteros game at ER in the summer was mid 20s at KO. Sure it had been about 28 during the day
