It’s not inconceivable he could end up being at the top of the appearances list by the time he retires, he’s already near the top 10.

    Was just thinking that.

Who currently tops the list with the highest number of appearances?

Should probably know that but I’m guessing Joe Baker or Lawrie Reilly?

Gordon Smith with 636. He’d need to play nearly every game until he’s 34/35 to reach that. He’s 12 games away from knocking Erich Schaedler out the top 10 and by the end of next season he could be in the top 5.

Really, I’m surprised at that as he played for Dundee and Hearts as well didn’t he? (If I’m wrong and he never played for Hearts I’ll need to hang my head in shame)

I would have thought Stanton as well but again his time at Celtic I would have thought may have pushed him down the list.

Would Gordon Rae be up there too or am I imagining that?

Anywhere I can see the top 10?

off the top of my head Arthur Duncan.

Don't think Joe Baker played that many.

Though it was Arthur, could be wrong.

He'll certainly come close but he needs over 200 more appearances to be at the top. With him being 31 in January, he might be pushing it a bit.

    Still delighted with this news.

Delighted with that. If he sees out that contract he’ll have been involved in 16 seasons with the first team

Great news. Love the guy !

Assuming he plays the majority of the games for the next couple of seasons, this will surely put him up there maybe top 5 appearances for the club! What a legend, fully deserved of his contact.

Great news. Extremely consistent players and I don’t think he has even had a runny nose in his career.

Are players allowed a double testimonial if they reach 20 years of service?

He really has been through it all, hasn't he? If he was to write the story of his career it would encompass all the highs and lows of being involved with Hibs. There probably isn't a period that is quite an indicative of the rollercoaster of following our club.

We've kicked every ball with him. Great career at Hibs. Long may it continue.

Pleased for him more than anything else.
Makes the best of his talent by working as hard as possible and is never injured.
    Phenomenal.

The laddie has a tremendous character. Saw the lows, silenced the critics and reaped the rewards.

A true Hibernian legend. Hope he stays on at the club after finishes his playing career.

His eventual send off should be mega. Sold out stadium, name the training centre after him so every player who trains with us know what’s expected of a model professional.

In terms of club legend status for me he’s up with Stanton, Reilly, Turnbull etc.

I bump into him quite often in Dunfermline, and when i'm with my boy on a Sunday playing football as he coaches his Kids team. A nicer guy you could never meet and he takes an interest in my boy. Plus he's a model professional and a fantastic footballer.

    That's fantastic.

Lewis and PH are the mainstays of our squad and we're lucky to have them.

Absolutely. He's the only Hibs player in the club's history to have won both the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

That alone gives him legendary status.

    Well deserved. Great servant.
