Signings that didn’t do as well as expected.

When we signed Patrick Cregg from Falkirk I thought we might of had a player but he turned out to be completely out the picture after a few months. Alan Gow, Ritchie Towell and especially Shelton Martis all spring to mind as well

Barry Lavety is a bit harsh, did he not score in a boxing day draw at Wongadome!

Not read my way through all of this thread but if it is not restricted to Hibs, how about the dozen or so players, including iirc Malaury Martin, signed by our Gorgie neighbours in a January and happily wasted FOH donations?

    Pleasing.

Scored along with wee Harper in a win at ER against them.

Scored a cracking goal in a 2-1 win at Easter Road. Remember it well...my first derby 😉

    Pa Kujabi anyone?

The free kick that slowly rolled out for a throw in....

James Collins is the main one for me. Absolutely honking 😷😷

Must be confused, for some reason I thought he scored in the 2-2 boxing day game, must have been the beer!

Fabian Yantorno - sounded like a proper flair player's name...just didn't get the breaks really.
Alan O'Brien - A faster Sproule? Yes please...
Ray Wilkins - RIP but didn't work out.

Question for our pre-93 attendees here, was Mark McGraw a real prospect before injury? He was coming back from injury when I started going to ER.

I take issue with including Donaldson on that list. Hibs signed him for nothing, he scored a fair number of goals including one hat trick and he was sold on for a profit.

I would have preferred Clayton to have stayed but it was an unsettled time for Hibs.

Paul Wright was pretty decent and was sacrificed so we could get Keith Wright I’m sure.

He was badly injured in a derby, surprise surprise. That animal Neil Berry crocked him if I recall correctly.

I’m sure we sold him for decent money too. 300k or thereabouts.

I was pretty young myself, but don't recall him doing anything of note, other than challenge Andy Goram for the ball that he punched out to Mickey Weir (I think)...

Islam Feruz - yes, that didn’t really work out. Wonder where he plays now? Not a name we hear too much about.
    He's still with Chelsea.

To St Johnstone - crazy to think of clubs like St Johnstone paying such handsome transfer fees back then!

Mark McGraw? 10 stone wet through and offered nothing. Made worse by the fact we paid good money for him.

    Left by mutual consent!
Sean O’Hanlon. I remember a number of MK Dons fans were gutted when we signed him as they were raving about him a lot. Thought we had signed a proper leader at the back that we badly lacked back then but blimey, this guy was terrible!

It was regarded as a coup when we got him, but he got that injury before we could find out if he would realise his potential.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

I remember it. Put a good cross in down at the north east corner and the Dunfermline defender crunched into him as he played the ball. The final was a few weeks after that game but the poor guy was out for months and was never the same again.

I remember being really excited when Stephen glass signed, but he never quite became what I hoped, although solidly decent

arpignon didn’t quite get going, especially as the Latapy replacement

danny galbraith (goal at parkhead aside)

    Andrew shinnie

    Alan o’brien

colin nish (again solid, but not what we hoped for, although did what he’d done at killie)

    martin mcintosh
