There wasn't a colour clash problem when we played Celtic in the 70s.

I thought you had to have 3 strips if you’re in Europe?

Of course we’ve launched it after getting knocked out...

Will serve a purpose against Celtic I suppose but it looks like the sort of thing that Conference sides play in or referees train in that you could pick up for about £13

Quite accept that this is a money raiser but clearly we don”t need a change strip in Scotland at all.

Exactly. Celtic just changed to white and green hoops.

Just had a look online and it's a template. Can get it badgeless for a quarter of the price.

Does it cost £25 per top to put stickers and a badge on it?

    Bit rubbish from Hibs tbh.

Its not really a question of needing it for the event of a colour clash, its 2018 thats not what "alternative" strips are about these days. I understand and agree with the Club releasing another strip, it will sell a few and brings more money into the club. If you dont like it or support the club releasing it then simply dont buy it.

On the actual strip it doesnt float my boat but Im sure it will sell. I'd place the three strips actually in 1st strip, 2nd strip and 3rd strip in my own personal preference league table.

Should Hibs not make a profit?
Do the staff working in the club store selling the kit work for free?
Is electricity and heating to run the shop gifted to us by our utilities supplier?
Do we pay rates to the council?
Is our online store free to host and maintain?

I think the point was that they should have put a wee bit more effort in to make it a "Hibs" top rather than a template plus Hibs badge.

The retail operation is run by a 3rd party, PSL sports.

I take your wider point but Hibs aren't making a profit on every unit sold.

The amount we receive from PSL will be based on the amount of money they can make selling our merchandise.

Of course increased sales put us in a stronger negotiating position when the contract renewal comes up.

'Strong strip sales' is often used as a stick to beat the club with when we don't sign a coveted player and it's worth pointing out short term a few extra units shifted has little impact. Equally outsourcing the store is a sensible decision as it passes many of the other overheads you mention to someone else.

I'm pretty sure that will be the case. If we are making anything it will be a very small amount.

There's a reason Adidas paid Man Utd £800M to manufacture their kits. It's to make money from sales for themselves, Utd only get a percentage of profit after a minimum number of units are sold.

We clearly do against Celtic. The days of both sides being allowed to wear their home tops are long gone. For some reason.

Generally franchise agreements (I once had a flooring one) involve the details you describe above but usually a cut of the sale value too, typically between 8-10% of value (not profit)

Using purple as a third kit this year would be a waste... patience, it’ll likely be our away kit next year.

Less than 100 days until Chrimbo? Lets release a 3rd strip.😁
