I know but it was commentator's curse.

Watched the camera picture after the goal again. When it zooms in on the manager, Salah is in the background. Certainly not celebrating and throws his water bottle away in anger.

Really enjoyed watching that. PSG look a confused mess and I do think they have it way too easy domestically for their own good.

PSG were really poor. Klopp’s masterstroke was to take off Salah who was going to lose the game for Liverpool with his slackness.

I only caught the last 10 minutes but I've gone from being totally uninterested in this competition to being enthralled by it.

Football is pretty good at the moment. World Cup was excellent, last year's Champions League was excellent, Scottish football is excellent.

It's getting harder to peel myself off the sofa.

Nah, anyone with an inkling of how Liverpool F.C. plc operated in buying up property around Anfield, making the local area derelict in order to redevelop new stand would know they have very little scruples. All ‘elite’ clubs do this.

Two tremendous games. It may be an obscene moneyed monopoly killing the grass roots game but what a ride the Champions League is, let me on

You mean the local streets of rows of terraced houses where many have lay derelict for years. Or are you talking about years ago when they built the centenary stand and slowly bought the houses over many years but had to stall the whole project due to one final resident rejecting all the offers of new property etc. They could have forced her out but never did.

I’m not sure what to make of Salah’s reaction. On face value, it looks like petulant, selfish anger that Liverpool scored without his involvement and that taking him off won them the game. Perhaps you could interpret it (unlikely) as Yessssss, we’ve got the winner.

Yes it certainly looked petulant however it could just be him releasing his anger over his own poor performance. I am pretty sure there will be some comment on it over the next couple of days. Back to the football, I was really surprised at the total lack of urgency from PSG. They are miles away from being a force on that performance despite their obvious superstars. Domestic dominance has allowed them to coast it seems.

PSG played like a group of individuals, Liverpool played as a team.

Steve McManaman is absolutely intolerable as a commentator.

Commentates as if he’s with a bunch of his mates watching the game in a boozer in Liverpool 😃

McGinn just had a superb run from his own half, beat 3 men and set up Abraham but shot blocked. Villa 1-0 up.
I watched some of that game and was baffled at McGinn playing such a deep role. I thought maybe it was designed to allow Grealish more opportunity to create but he was stuck out wide on the left.

Overall, I thought the quality of football was poor
    This is how it feels

Watched the whole game John, and you're right, it wasn't great. Although Villa are a huge club I'm not sure the style of football allows McGinn to shine. He seems to sit in to provide cover for Hutton when he charges up the wing then can't cross it with his left foot. If it was McGinn doing the charging forward he could at least whip the ball into the box!

Having said all that, I thought SJM had a great 2nd half after a fairly indifferent first.

Just caught all the highlights from last night, quality (and deserved) win for Liverpool. James Milner is absolutely class and Lionel Messi is still head and shoulders above any player in the world.

In Plzen for tonight’s tie between Viktoria and CSKA Moscow. Plzen is a great wee city and well worth a visit if you happen to be in Prague.
Viktoria Plzen themselves do well for their size. They have dominated the top flight for pretty much the last ten years despite having less resource than the two big Prague clubs. Having spoken to Sparta and Slavia fans the consensus is that it’s as simple as them being a well-run club who know their business.
Sounds like the kind of model we can aim or aspire to and in fact probably are.

Liverpool broke the world record transfer for a defender and a goalkeeper in the last year.

It is sad to feel sorry for any English clubs when it comes to money.
