League cup QF draw - Hibs v Aberdeen

Why is it after the rangers game which is an early kick off and not after our game???

Also its on TV which gets the draw more coverage rather than our game which won't have much of it.

It's hardly difficult to change the time of a cup draw.

Our game was confirmed for today more than two weeks ago when we beat Tripolis.

At least it is getting reasonable profile. We always moan when they make the draw at a time no one takes notice.

Who else wants Ayr at home?

    Agree with this.

I'm not going to waste any time trying to be upset about knowing who we would face in the next round before our game kicks off.

Killie v The Rangers was prob the pick of the round tbh. And the draw being on tv after that game is surely better than waiting until after ours no?

To be fair, the draw timings have improved now compared to previous years. Now they're almost always immediately after the last televised game as opposed to before when it was like 2pm on a ****ing Tuesday.

    That's what I was thinking.

It's a shame the draw will only be about 30 mins before kick off as it might encourage a few more walk ups if a home draw against Hearts awaits the winner.

Remember a few years ago when they showed every Rangers and Celtic away game...so not to affect their crowds?

Is that not whats happening now?

At that time ugly sisters got 50% of tv money...and ret was split amongst the rest.

Is this really whats happening again???

Why? Nothing they could do when the Hibs game was moved to Dunday afternoon
At least we’ll be in it. Might even give us an extra incentive to win today, if we get an interesting draw

Possibly...but killie will play the Rangers at least 4 more times this season, how about Dunfy vs yams, or even us vs Ross county ?
Possible upset from a championship team vs a premier team ?

No doubt they'll spend most of the build up to the hibs game talking about the draw.

Exactly, plus will be broadcasted live. Hated that old format as it was just plain stupid!

Rangers and Celtic have the majority of the football following up here and almost all of the non-scottish interest in our game. I'm not sure how anyone could objectively think Hibs v Ross county would be more appealing than Killie v rangers.

People want better TV deals, but we wouldn't be getting anything near what we get if it wasn't for showing their games the most.
    Mon the Hibs.

I'm sure the TV contract stipulates that you have to show a game from every ground in the top division a set number of times per season. As a result, they'll invariably show the 3/4 ties v the OF to honour the contract.

The Scottish Cup/League Cup doesn't have such a stipulation so they'll show the OF games whether home or away.

Ideal draw would prob be the following:

    Hearts v Celtic
    Aberdeen v Kilmarnock/Rangers
    Hibs/Ross County v Ayr
    Mohterwell v St Johnstone

The things in which people find injustice never cease to amaze me.

It would be a bigger joke if the draw was moved and taken off TV. Folk would be slagging off the SPFL for missing s great opportunity to promote our national game etc etc.

Or is the suggestion that it should be done live at half time during the Man United game?

  27. #26
BT are putting money into the League Cup.Only right that the draw should be on live after the match they’ve televised.Killie v Rangers is the top match of the round.

TV money is split equally between the clubs.

If the Killie v Rangers game goes to extra time and penalties, draw could be after we’ve kicked off

Man United and Man City are on the TV just about every week.

Why do you think that is?
